I have two batteries... both work. The charger is apparently faulty as no light come on when you put either battery in, and of course it doesn't charge them as well. (its not an issue with the actual led light). Does anyone have any solutions? Or has anyone else experienced this same problem? Thanks, replys will be apprecciated... A Frustraded Plumber!
The problem is resistor R3 on the circuit board.
Since there is 310 Volts (!) across this resistor, I would highly recommend taking it to a TV repair shop for repair unless you know exactly what you are doing and have the skills for repairing a PC board. Take this email with you when you go there.
Be sure !!! to discharge the two large capacitors with a 10K resistor before attempting this repair - for days they will retain 165 Volts each across them after the power plug is pulled.
The repair is easy - simply replace the resistor R3 with two 130K metal film 1/2Watt resistors in series. The existing resistor is marginally power rated and there is too much potential difference across it for safety. Make sure the two replacement resistors are enclosed in a heat-shrink tube before soldering onto the board.
I'm having trouble locating R3 on the board. Any help is appreciated!
Wayne: so sorry but that repair was 7 years ago, and I can't find a photo of the board. I think the resistor was buried deep between a couple of larger capacitors. Look for a dark area on the bottom of the board caused by heating - it may lead you to the part. Resistor is probably smoked, i.e. a grayish color and very small.
Remember to use 2 resistors in series, not a single resistor. Believe it or not, resistors have a maximum voltage rating and the voltage across R3 exceeds that limit for one resistor. Also use only a metal film type as carbon composites don't have the spec's required for this type of circuit.
And above all, make absolutely sure you discharge the large capacitors before working on the board - the voltage stored in them can kill you if you aren't careful.
Good luck, and enjoy the fun of repairing it. Let me know how it worked out for you.

I had to replace my first drill and charger on warranty when the charger stopped charging. B&Q were great and changed it immediately, but now the new charger has stopped charging, no LED light coming on.
I saw you could buy replacements on eBay, but first I opened it up and saw what looked like a tiny fuse. With a magnifying glass I could see the fuse had burned out, so using 5 amp fuse wire I connected the two sides and hey presto, the LED came on and it now works again.
A little tip to prevent recurrent problems by chargers is to make the solderings on the suppression coils a bit bigger and also some solderings on the more heavy components on the circuit board , the change that it will give problems after accidentally fall is less
Most of the time if the light doesn't come on the charger is bad. I would replace the charger as they aren't serviceable anyway. We sell and service a ton of Bosch and have not seen any known issues with that charger.
