Question about Computers & Internet

I have two Comcast cable internet lines in my house. One is for business, the other is personal. I have two modems and two wireless routers for each. I want to consolidate into one modem (business), and from there, two routers, one for business and on for personal. How can I do this? I cannot mess with the business side of it, as it is not my business, I work for an employer. Is this doable?

Hard wire the personal router to a port on the business router, Then set the personal router to a different Gateway address. Lets say your business router is at 192.168.1.1, you can set the other router to 192.168.2.1. It would be a totally different network.

You need to talk to your comcast supplier and see if they will set up dedicated IP's coming in one line then you would need to put a hub between the comcast cable modem and the 2 routers. Then each router is set to having the dedicated IP address in their setup.

This is a general answer but its the basics necessary. I don't know if you are comfortable in this "depth" of setup and configs. But its what you need to do.

I have comcast for internet, will the NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless-N Gigabit Router with USB WNR3500L work for comcast?

Of course it will. I have comcast cable internet but don't forget, you will need a cable modem to access cable internet and then you can use any router for networking including WNR3500L.

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the port on the Comcast modem to the WAN port on the Berklin (Belkin????) router.
Use another Ethernet cable to connect one of the LAN ports on the router to the Ethernet port on your computer.
Start Internet Explorer on your computer.
Connect to the web-interface inside the router.
Run the "network setup wizard".
Run the "wireless setup wizard".

Can the microsoft MN700 Router be used with cable internet instead of DSL from the phone company?I switched from Verizon DSL to Comcast Cable internet but can not find an answer if the MN700 is compatible...

I would say yes but i have not tested it personaly, but what i know about routers it should work with. Cable internet and dsl are exactly the same thing. The only difference is how its delivered to your house and the speed of it.

DSL tands for "Digital Subscriber Line." It is medium for transferring data over regular phone lines and can be used to connect to the Internet

cable the same thing except it is internet though the cable line. you u run the out of your

you probably wont even have to change any settings on it either. the line out of the back of your cable modem will plug into the same spot the old cable ran to when you just had dsl.

if this has been helpful please mark it has fixya. also please rate me, and if you have found it very helpful or informative please recommend me.

Wireless router isn't getting internet connection

I am running DSL, but I am sure the method would be the same. The BNC connection (cable) should first enter the cable modem, then ethernet from the modem to the wireless router.

No more internet thru router after new modem installed

Router setup
Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the Comcast cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line.

Did Comcast reset you wireless router settings? If so, you may need to set up your SSID and security settings.

Customizing Wireless Settings of the Router
Having default wireless settings on the Linksys router may cause conflict with other Linksys routers within your network range. Linksys suggests changing the SSID (network name) and the Wireless Channel of your router. Also, if it is possible, enable the Wireless Security of your router.
To change the router’s SSID or the wireless network’s name, click here.
To change the router’s channel, click here.
To enable the wireless security on the router, click here.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Connecting ADSL wireless modem router to COMCAST

unfortunately you can't because the 2wire is a dsl modem it has to use the phone line to connect to the internet, it would be different if it was just a router but since it is a modem it needs that connection to the phone line in order to work

2wire Wireless router not working w/Comcast cable modem

Its almost impossible to connect a 2wire DSL router with a Cable modem. They dont go hand in hand.
Although you can connect the outgoing ethernet wire from the modem in the last ethernet plug on the back of the router and then have the ethernet connections coming from the router. But not wireless. and if you find a way, contact me at jneal2k9@hotmail.com

Belkin N1 Router connection drops when phone rings

You may have a phone line connected from the modem to a wall outlet. Count the number of cables coming out of your modem - you should have only three: the power cable (connects to the wall), Cat 5 (also connects to the wall), and ethernet (running from the modem to the router).
