Re: HOW DO I GET TO THE FRONT OF MY MAYTAG ELECTRIC DRYER...
A lot of appliances have a spring latch under the front of the top. You need a putty knife to push this in to release the top, one on each front corner. The top will hinge up. Then a screw will be holding the front on, one on each corner of the top area. Some fronts have screws down on the lower front, you really have to look for them. Make sure the power is off!

Hi, You probably will need the following parts to fix the squeal; 6-3705180 Idler arm $6.78 6-3700340 bearing $16.04 6-3129480 Drum roller shaft $5.53 12001541 rollers $22.04 33002535 belt $23.80 MAKE SURE DRYER IS UNPLUGGED BEFORE WORKING ON IT Remove two screws at front bottom, pull front out toward you and remove wires from door switch and remove. Remove front bulkhead and drum. Check all of these parts I listed and replace as needed. Hope this helps
i would assume that either the rear roller(located directly atop your heater, or yout idler pulley has gone bad , parts are probly about $40.. not a bad repair, you can probly find a how to on you tube
Many reasons for this to happen. First the seal surrounding the drum to the front panel maybe dirty causing this squeak
In the other hand most squeaks are caused by the dried up bearing inside the roller for the belt tensioner. If so replace the belt and tensioner pulley for the belt gets stretched by a worn pulley and will break eventually too
How do you replace the glides/slides? I have a Maytag dryer that's
squeaking, took off front and it's clear it's the glides. Found where
to buy them just need directions for replacing. Anyone know how?
To change the glides you have someone lift the drum--after taking off the front panel--and pull out the glides. We bought the glides locally and just ordered on line the felt pads that go under the glides, as one was missing. So I haven't actually completed the project but should easily be able to once the felt pads arrive.
Open the top cover by insrting a putty knife in the top right and left sides where the top meets the bottom cabinet.
Lay the top to the back.
Remove 2 screws on the right and left front inside corners of the cabinet.
Remove the door.
Replace the belt around the drum and motor pulley.
Re-assemble the dryer.
