Question about Philips Magnavox 20MT133S 20" TV

1 Answer

Is it worth taking to a repair shop?

My son-in-law bought it for me only a month ago. I had it sitting on the dresser and last night when I walked past it, it fell off. It doesn't come on at all. Will the cost of repairs exceed the cost of the set ($90.00)?

Re: Is it worth taking to a repair shop?

The circuit board is probably broken. OR maybe also the picture tube. If service shops in your area give free estimates, it might be ok to have someone checkit for you. Newer tv's however can be replaced cheaper than repaired unless they cost several hundred dollars. The smaller size of the circuit boards make it very difficult to repair them. Stargazer

Television Locked screen

I had the same problem on my TV (Nontaus N5119A). As suggested above, I switched the TV, pressed and held the 'Display' button for about 10 seconds and TV unlocked.

Thanks a lot for posting the solution. Much appreciated.

TV just died...

Hi there!
The fuse may have blown. If so and you know how to check for a faulty fuse inside a TV, it may be worth a shot. Please unplug before opening and replace fuse with same value. If it blows again, you have to have it seen to by a repair technician. Good Luck, Regards, JUS004

My Tv just started doing the same problem

Sounds like the On/Off sitch is bad to me. Be Calm my friend these things happen in life. No point in becoming angry over it. The fact is it was probably the least expensive set on the shelf when you bought it. It came with a warrenty as do the other brands And, this sort of problem can happen to ANY brand of television. That's why you get a warrenty. Also, you could have bought an extended warrenty which would have cost you more than the repair job you need for your tv. Call 18002427158 press 1 be preparred to hold about 4 or 5 minutes and ask them for a service tech in your area. I would think that this should be repairable for about $35-$55 OR look in your yellow pages and take it to any TV reapair shop in your neighborhood. Don't worry, BE HAPPY!!!! Don't forget now, very soon, if you don't have cable or satelite you will need a new tv anyway. The nation is going Digital! WOO HOOO!!!! Have a great day! Symphonic tv's are ok. I have had a 27" here for 13 years now still plays great! Although, my 6 year old Symphonic just pooped the bed. But, that's ok cause I can fix it!

Television won't turn on

it is best you buy another set my friend it is not worth fixing the money you have for repairs and the cost for components put it together and you will get a good tv free of repair worries plus with warranty.if you get that set fix bam you take it home then about a week it is back in the work shop will have to spend more money.a 10 year old set is not worth to have it repaired.replace it.good luck my friend.

TV fell off Dresser, now remote doesn't work. Help

You may have broken the circuit board inside your tv. You need to have it checked out at a shop. It'll probably be cheaper to replace than repair.

Screen not centerd

If it is a RCA F27649 then it has what they call a bonded yoke, meaning the only adjustments to shift the picture horizontal or vertical are electronic adjustments via the service menu.

Vertical Sweep

If the quality of the picture was good before it failed it is worth repairing, replacing the vertical Ic should take care of your problem and for a service technician is a fairly easy repair and they usually dont charge too much, maybe 100.00 to 150.00,if you take the set to someone is less the charge but I know is heavy and it might not be an option, shop around for the price of an estimate in your house.
