You need to finalize the disk in the original recorder to play in other dvd players, you would know this if ou read the manual

I have recorded on a Verbatim DVD+RW disc on my Philips 3305 DVDR but it will not play back on my friend's Panasonic DMR-EX98VEB. My recorder will not finalise/make compatible the disc. Why?

Could be that the disk itself is incompatible with your friend's machine. Or your buddies machine may be starting to exhibit playback issues. Try another disk and see what happens.

sounds like what your doing is correct, See if you can locate a reset button on it and reset it. Did you try connecting to the TV that it worked on previously? Let me know.

I can record dvd on player but cant play back on anything but tv it is recorded on

The TV has nothing to do with it. The medium you use to record with does though as well as the DVD player you use to play the recorded DVD with. Some players will not play DVDR or DVD-RW discs. Check your manual.

I 'Finalized' the DVD but cannot play on another player

Does the machine record on to + or - DVDR?
If it does both try each type. Also try high quality discs, some of the cheaper types won't work. Try it on different speeds too.

Can't play recorded DVD's(from philips 3505) on other dvd players

Hi I am Vortash It very much sounds like you are not finalizing your disks .. any dvd recorder that makes a disc from computer dvd's to free standing unit s work on the same software principle , however the programs do differ slightly and finalisation stanard izes the disc to run on any player, without it another recorder will either not recognize the disk or the language it is written in . Read that message at the end and you will see the option to finalize or it will say do you wish to be able to play this on another dvd or it will do it automatically if you set it to do so in the menu on some sets .
if your player isnt doing this it is not set to do so in the menu settings disks can be finalized at any time after recording providing they are not over filled as the finalization process will take up at least 10-12 mb some do it in more some might do it in less depending on the software hope this helps Regards vortash

Presidian PDR 3222 not recording when record button pressed

I am beginning to think the machine works with slower discs but a firmware update will enable the machine to function with the newer "16x" and other discs. Unfortunately, neither Presidian nor the "real" manufacturer (whose name slipped my mind) seem to currently have the update available on their web sites.

Samsung dvd recorder

Make sure you have finalised the disk, otherwise it won't play back on other players. Also there are two standards that you can use to record onto disks, video mode or VR mode. Video mode was the original standard but it wouldn't let you edit or add anything to the recording afterwards but it is more compatible with other players. VR mode allows you to edit the recording but is less compatible for playback on other players.
