Panasonic FZ20 does not switch off, menu buttons dont work

My FZ20 does not switch off even if the on/off button is off. I cannot click pictures either. The LCD is on, and I can see the images through the lens. But I am not able to click. Nothing happens. The other control buttons dont work at all. There is no effect. Finally, I have to take the battery off to switch the unit off. Antoher thing I noticed in this condition is that, the "delete" button triggers the camera to be shut off. but the camera turns itself on immediately after turning off. I was in the middle of using my FZ20, and I changed the SD card. I dont remember if I actually turned off the camera before I inserted the new card or not. But soon after that, the above weird behaviour started to happen. Any suggestions/advice? Thanks.

Re: Panasonic FZ20 does not switch off, menu buttons dont...

After successfully transfering my pictures to my computer my camera locked in the open position. I can't turn it off and nothing else works. I've done this procedure many many times without any problems.

Re: Panasonic FZ20 does not switch off, menu buttons dont...

Same thing happened to mine 6 months ago. I paid $130.00 for repairs while still under warranty. Waranty is for parts only. Then I left the camera on the roof of my jeep overnight in the rain. Same thing went wrong. It was past the 60 day repair warranty so I took it apart myself and put it back together. It works fine now. I suspect it was an intermittent contact in the ribbon connector to the rear control unit.

I dropped my FZ28 (about 3 feet onto a wood floor) but it seems fine (despite it totally stressing me out!). Is there anything particularly I should look out for? Any suggestions? I'm sincerely hoping that...

The main thing would be to check if your lens is alright(no crack) if your picture quality is still the same and if all the buttons are working (zoom, menu etc). If all these are alright keep snapping those photos.

Dark screen cant adjust

is it dark on picture playback (picture from before fault occurred) and menu also, if not then turn exposure value back up, on my camera you do this by pressing the WB (white balance/exposure button) and turning it to 0. it is the up button on the 4 way knob. but I have a Panasonic FZ20. yours may be different.
If the whole LCD screen is dim, and the viewfinder is OK, then you have a problem with the LCD screen. You will need to take it to the repair agents.

Panasonic Lumix Fx35 Malfunctioning

Go into the setup menu and scroll to "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. This procedure might work. If you can't get into the menu because of malfunctioning buttons, try a manual reset...remove the card and all the buttons...insert the card first and then the battery...turn it on.

Freezing of camera - only way to turn off is to remove battery.

hi try to reset ur camera...To do such reset, turn on the camera and hold the menu button down for longer than 5 seconds. A message should hopefully come up on your LCD asking if you want to reset the camera. Select Yes...

Camera Frozen

I tried Option No.1 successfully when my Panasonic DMC-FZ7K froze once:

Option No1:

1. Try turning the camera on with the battery inserted.

2. Now remove the battery while the camera is on.

3. Flip the switch on the camera to off, then insert a fully charged battery. (Make sure that the battery's orientation is correct. Also make sure that the battery being used is not damaged).

4. Now flip the camera's switch to ON again.
Option No. 2:

If you can open the Setup menu then the camera can be reset which might help:

Turn on the camera.

1. Press MENU SET.

2. Press the left arrow button.

3. Press the down arrow button.

4. Press the right arrow button.

5. Now, press the up arrow button several times until the menu item named RESET is highlighted. Push the right arrow button and then select and set YES when the camera asks to be reset.

DMC-FZ20 dismantle help...

It's not clear from casual inspection, but the spring is a separate sheet of stamped metal and is not connected to the shoe. If you can lift up the forward edge, it should slide right out of the shoe.

The colour on the EVF and LCD is pretty pink and nearly red

Yes it is. I believe Panasonic knows that the built in flash casts a very blue tint so they set the flash WB to very red to compensate. Therefore before the flash is triggered as when you watch the LCD. Some threads here even suggested adjust the WB further 2 knots to the red manually (press " up" a few times on the 4-way button to have better skin tone. Try it. The setting stays even when you turn off the camera.
