The copier shows only A3 for both trays. One tray isnt A3, but is filled with A4. So it says there is no A4 tray available and I can´t print or copy in A4. Is there a possibility to change the paper size of the trays or is it set automatically by the copier sensors?

Re: How to set the paper size in the trays?
Most are set by the trays itself, when you adjust the "guides" that go against the paper it adjust some levers on the side or back of the tray which push on some sensors behind the tray.
Some however you need to turn a dial in the tray to the paper size you need.
make sure the guides are snug against the paper, the dial or settings are correct and that there is no paper behind the tray.
Also I'm not sure what country you are from but in the US we do not use A4

Sounds like someone requested A4 size paper in a print job instead of the normal Letter size paper...
Try putting regular letter size paper in the bypass tray and then set it up as A4 size...the print job should then print out on that paper.
from where are u using the A3 paper .
if ur using the drawer then simply select the original size and copy size as per ur requirement and first change the tray paper size to A3 in operator settings.
if ur using by pass tray then be sure to pull the entire tray out as there is a sensor in the last end of the tray that senses A3 and legal paper
check to make sure on the display panel the paper tray is showing A3 PAPER SIZE>> the paper size indication should match up to what is in the trays if not the machine will be asking for A3. Also try putting in another tray to see if there is a fault with the paper tray .. if it works with other paper sizes it may just be the size hasnt been set properly for that tray.. Hope this helps A
Enter on the computer the follow path: 1. enter start menu 2. enter printers and faxes 3. enter by right click into properties 4. enter paper size settings 5. set the paper size for the tray or trays and press update then apply and ok after thet it will work Also see on the printer menu enter the same paper tray settings and set the trays by size but more important is to set the compute settings
