Re: Sony VCR date only goes up 2006

I have 2 SLV-696HF units that won't work after 2007. I have had people tell me that I'll have to "find" a previous calendar that will work, since there are only 14 different calendars in our Gregorian system, 7 for non-leap years & 7 for leap years. The problem we have with this, is that the internal VCR calendar won't roll BACK far enough. I wonder if SONY has a way of flashing these units to fix this problem?

The time clock stops at 2006 is there an adjustment to bring it up to date?

Your model is at least ten years old now and Sony only designed it to last around five years anyway. The clock settings only go up to 2006 and there is nothing you can do to override it.

Sony VCR date only goes up 2006

Goggle year with same dates as the year you want. It'll show up.
For example if you can't get 2009, then you can set it to 1998. Same starting day, and all other dates will be identical.

Vcr does not run

Try changing the channels on the VCR itself. If you can do that, then it would indicate a problem with the VCR's remote. If you are still unable to change channels on the VCR manually, it could indicate a circuitry problem, for which you will have to get the VCR serviced.
