Question about Philips Magnavox MWR20V6 DVD Recorder/VCR

Open Question

I can't record on my Magnavox DVD recorder ZC320MW8.

I have cable TV so if I go to channel 3 I just get a program. When I go to HD on my Magnavox HD TV the setting to record a program comes up.I tried setting the program on HD and then going to the station I want to record on but the disc is blank when I play it back.
I connected the DVD recorder to the TV with method 3 (the green, blue and red cable plus the red and white audio cable that came with the video cables).I hope you can figure out a solution for my problem.

Thanks!

SOURCE: i get sound recording but no video when using my magnavox dvd rec

You have to use a red, white, and yellow connection, or a red, white and s-video connection.

Two possibilities:

1) Connect a yellow composite A/V cable (or an S-video cable, if you prefer) from the video or monitor OUT of your cable or satellite box.

OR:
2) Connect a yellow composite A/V cable (or an S-video cable, if you prefer) from the video or monitor OUT of your TV (many TV's don't have such a thing).

Try recording again - it should work this time.

SOURCE: Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

SOURCE: have a region 2 dvd that i cannot play on dvd recorder

For that you need to do a google for "mymodel region free" or "region free hack"

Not all dvd players are capable of this often very simple modification (usually just involves the remote control and a combination of keys)

Your search will turn up a lot of sharks that want money for the hack

IGNORE THEM

There are a lot of sites where the information is free.

I am unsure of FIXYA's policy on this topic and am awaiting further clarification on the issue with regards to handing out these codes.
I would prefer not to get my @ss kicked. That is why I gave you the search terms rather than site links

SOURCE: the magnavox zc320mw8 will not

you can't get to the setup menu from the title menu either. if the title menu is up, press stop then go into the setup. If the disc is a DVD+RW it will not finalize either. It will do fine for -R -RW and +R

With the new HD transfer. We just have atenna...we just bought a HD TV. Is there a way of connecting the DVD Recorder so I can watch one channel and tape another with this new system

A lot of your question depends on your DVD recorder, but there IS a way to connect them so you can watch one channel and record another one.

First - if you have an HD compatible DVD recorder (one that will allow you to select channel 8, 8.1, 8.2, etc) then you could simply split your antenna signal BEFORE the TV or DVD recorder. Then you can select one channel to watch on your TV while selecting and recording a different channel on the DVD recorder. If your DVD recorder is connected to your TV's Video Input, you should be able to monitor DVD recorder's activity by selecting the "Video Input" on your TV.

If you DON'T have an HD DVD recorder, then you will need to get a converter box to put between the Antenna signal and the DVD recorder. You can then set the converter box to the channel you want and the DVD recorder can be set to record it.

DMR E55 timer recording won't work

Your recorder doesn´t have a digital tuner, let alone an HD one. You can record digital programs via your TV tuner if it gives a signal out. Connect your TV to AV1 or AV2 on your recorder and program the recorder to record from the one you chose. You must program the TV separately (I don´t know if this is possible on your TV) or leave it on and on the channel you want to record.
