Can't remove a file from usb drive! (how to remove a protection?)

1) The program 'unlocker' didn't help me at all..

2) This is the message I constantly get:
"Thedisk cannot be written to because it is write protected. Please removethe write protection from the volume KINGSTON in driveDevice/Harddisk/2DR8."

Anyone know how could I remove the protection???
I have Kingston DTI/1GB, if it is important.

Thanks in advance.

Hi DuuuX,

This is an indication that the file system has become corupted. All you can do is contact Kingston for a warranty replacement.

Heh, this problem is 3.5 years old. In 2008 there was no Windows 7. But thanks anyway. ;-)

How to remove "Flash drive write protection" error appears in Windows XP

Why do you get a "The disk is write protected" error when attempting to transfer files to USB flash drive?

Permissions in the PC may have restricted writing files to the USB flash drive. Disabling restrictions should fix this issue.
WARNING: Backup your registry before editing.

STEP 1 - Backup the registry

1. Unplug the USB flash drive. 2. Click Start > Run, type in regedit then click OK. 3. From the registry menu, click File, select Export. 4. Under Export range select All. 5. Name the file backup.reg and save it to the desktop.

STEP 2 - Disable the "Write Protect" permission in the Registry

1. On the left pane, click the "+" beside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE 2. Navigate to SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > StorageDevicePolicies. 3. On the right pane, right-click on WriteProtect and select Modify. 4. In the Value data field, type the number 0 5. Click OK.

Good Luck

Any software to remove write protection from 2 gb kingston pendrive...its urgent ...my important files in it.

Scan your USB with updated antivirus it might be attacked by a virus. There is no software that can remove that unless there is a switch in your USB drive that locked and unlock your USB drive.

Remove the write protection on 2GB USB Kingston Data Traveler 100

Found this on Kingston site, doesn't help much but may point you in the right direction.

Unfortunately this unit does not have any security or write protection feature. If you receive a write protection message with this drive, check for the following:
    1. Verify that you are allowed to write to removable storage devices. There may be a security setting in the OS that disables write access to removable storage devices.
    2. Make sure you have not enabled write protection on the drive by using a third party software.
    3. If none of the above apply, the drive may be defective.

My usb flash drive is write protected how can i remove it

USB flash drives are made of a small amount of flash ram and usualy the size of a persons thumb.

the software that resides on them determins if the "disk volume" is write protected.

if a software program other than the native software that came with the drive has write protected "files" that exist on the drive you will need to find out the name of said program and follow the proceedures for changing the write protection of those files.
