Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Will extra computer memory be used if the maximum is exceeded?

Windows XP can't use over 2.1 GB of RAM for applications though up to 4 GB can be allocated. The extra RAM is used for the system only. It shouldn't hurt to have extra there.

Will windows xp supported in amd sempron 145?

No it should not.

However your post does have one confusing detail - XP when installed does not reside on the motherboard but on a Hard Disk Drive. Parts of it will be loaded into memory when you boot up the PC.

If you mean that you are also installing a new Gigabyte MB under an existing installation of XP, you will probably still need the XP system disk for a reinstall of XP as it may not recognise the new MB.

If you are newly installing XP in an existing PC with the specs you mention, it should be ideal. It is best to have enough memory on board, at least 1 Gb.

When I start up my Dell Latitude D610, it will go throught the boot sequence, and imediatly after the microsoft windows XP loading screen is shown, a blue screen apears that goes by too quick to read. Then...

Pressand hold the key while powering the system on. This will run theDell Diagnostics. Another more intense diagnostic program is located on a DellCD that you should have received with your laptop. Look for one that has "Diagnostics and utilities" listed underthe "Contents". You will have to boot from that CD disk. To do this, power onyour laptop and tap the key to bring you to the "One time bootmenu". Insert the CD and then select CD/DVD drive and hit key. Select the "Run the 32 Bit DellDiagnostics". If the laptop runs the diagnostics without errors then you have a software issue. If it is a hardware issue (i.e. memory, hard drive) diagnostics will indicate faulty component.

Install the system again from scratch, install all drivers exept the graphics driver. Get the computer on the internet, right click on my computer, choose properties and goto device driver, click on the plus sign next to display adapters, right click on the device and choose to update driver use the internet option to install the drivers. It takes a few minutes so be patient. This should solve the freezing problem you have. Post back if you still have problems.
