I have a singer heavy duty 4423 I am sewing a curtain out of a sheet every time I try to reverse sew my machine jams up but straight sewing seems to be ok

If your Singer Heavy Duty 4423 is jamming when you try to sew in reverse, it may be due to a few issues:
  1. Thread tension: Make sure your thread tension is not too tight, which can cause the thread to bunch up and jam the machine. Try loosening the tension slightly.
  2. Needle: Make sure you are using the correct needle for the fabric you are sewing. A dull or damaged needle can cause the machine to jam.
  3. Bobbin: Check your bobbin to make sure it is threaded correctly and is not damaged.
  4. Machine maintenance: It's important to keep your machine clean and well-oiled. A buildup of lint or dirt can cause the machine to jam.
  5. Sewing speed: Slow down when sewing in reverse. Sometimes going too fast in reverse can cause the machine to jam.
If none of these solutions work, it may be a mechanical issue with the machine and it's best to take it to a professional for repair

Re. Pfaff Expression Lifestyle 2022 machine

It sounds like the bobbin tension is too tight or the top tension is too loose. It is a delicate pulling game that needs to be just right. Bird nesting is a sure sign of tension issues.

Doing free motion quilting, feed dogs down, and the thread keeps jamming under the plate. It jams the needle and there's several small lengths of thread maybe 1/2 inch jammed below.

Slow down the movement of the needle. Make movement of the fabric a little faster. If this happens when you are sewing fabric with the feed dog operating then the bobbin tension is too tight (top set at four). Also, make sure the pressure foot isn't set too tight. If the material is thin you will probably need to use stabilizer.

My janome 1600p db tension is to tight even on the low number on dial

check again how it is threaded as the thread can get behind the tension plates and jam around the threaded bolt mostly unnoticed during the process

My Janome 1600 keeps breaking threads

Is the tension too tight? Are the tension discs clean? Remove bobbin case, clean it and re-thread as this may be jammed.

The top spool of thread jams tight when I pull the

It sounds like the tension setting is too tight. The tension mechanism consists of two metal disks; the thread runs between these disks. When the pressure foot is down, the disks come together, trapping the thread between them. When the pressure foot is up, the disks separate and the thread can flow freely. (BTW, this is why you adjust the tension with the pressure foot down.)

Take a look at your tension setting and try loosening it. That should resolve the problem.

Let me know if this helps, ok?

My bobbin wont feed through

take the bobbin out check for debris (pieces of thread, lint, etc.) that may be jamming the bobbin. check under the feed plate for a thread jam or debris. check if your bobbin is wound too tightly. it can happen! then it will keep breaking. the other adjustments are mainly for thread tension- the spool on top. if they're too tight, the thread will keep breaking. you can tell- once they're properly adjusted- by the quality of the stitch. check the bobbin first! if it's too tightly wound, you can probably adjust the winding tension on top. try a different bobbin. if that works then 'rinse and repeat!'.
good luck!

Thread bunching and jamming in bobbin area

what you have is known as bird nesting and is from the needle tension not being tight enough
before you thread the needle pull the thread and the correct tension is when there is noticeable resistance to pulling the thread
always check adjustments using scrap material
