Connect as mass storage device (you may need to change the connection setting - LG Cookie is Settings > Connectivity > USB Connection Mode > Mass Storage)

Plug USB cable into phone and computer.

Copy music tracks manually.

The Cookie stores info about each track, if you modify the track names etc I've found you need to reset the phone for the changes to be accepted.

I have a memory card (they're not expensive really) and copy my music direct to the card via a USB card reader. For the Cookie you will need to make sure the track number is included in the MP3 track Title (not just the filename) so the tracks are listed correctly. I use a program called MP3Tag, which is daunting at first but I find very useful - stick with it..!

Thanks Tythorn, your solution has worked for me!

I have been pulling my hair out with this phone for days. I could get an album or two on to it and then must have transferred a file it didn't like and from then on it errors on all files, saying they are unsupported. I was about to take it back to the shop in disgust today, but just saw your post. Tried your solution and, as incredible as it seems, taking the battery out and putting it back in does seem to solve the problem! All files recognised and playing again.

I am now going to test transferring a protected file. So far I have only transferred unprotected files thinking this was the problem.

I have this phone but dont use the software to transfer music, i download then transfer from saved limewire files through a USB Bluetooth to my phone. All transfers work apart from every now and then you get one or two that say unprotected files that cant delete but i take my battery out then everything is fine.

Unsupported media format or bit rate over

Unsupported media format - we generally get this error on playing the media files like music or video.
This is because the format is not supported by the phone.
See the phone specification or the manual for supported formats.

MP3, AAC, AAC+, e-AAC+, WMA, AMR, WAV these are the formats supported by your phone for music
you can download a free converter and convert the format to above mentioned and keep the bit rate at 128kbps for a descent quality and you wouldn't get the bit-rate error.

MPEG4/H.263/H.264/WMV are the videos format supported by your phone.

Whenever I am trying to play all tracks in music palyer, I am getting an error message "Unsupported file" after first song is over. Due to this problem I am unable to listen multiple songs in...

Hello

The problem might be that the files are unsupported by the phone For example the tracks might be of wma,m4a or wav format and the phone might support only mp3 format

Please make sure all the songs are mp3 format and make sure there is enough free space on your phone as this also might be the cause,

Switch off your phone and remove the battery for 5 to 10 seconds, this resets the phone memory and should also fix the error you are receiving

be sure that the file is in mp3 format, and has the extension .mp3

or if you are using the music widget on the home screen, check if you havn't moved the file to a different location

Unsupported media format

some phones require a certain media file for example .mp3 is the most popular. but your phone may only support wma so find out what kind of file your phone supports and then find a media converter to convert your file

Only some music files visible on Music

this is due to the format of the music files some mobiles have mp3 format as default but they can also play wma and wav formats so convert the music files into the format your mobile supports by default this will show up all the music files in the music category if this does not works tell me the model no of your mobile

Unsupported file?

Hiya, I had already converted mine to an mp3, and it still wasn't working, so I changed it to an m4a, and it worked! :) Instead of sending it to my phone by the computer cable, i sent it via bluetooth. Also, if you are using iTunes on a Mac, then when you drag the song out of your iTunes library, it will automatically be an m4a file.
Hope this helps. :)

How many songs could 1GB memory card hold?

It depends on the format of the music files, i.e WMA or MP3 ATRAC etc, and the bit-rate(size of the the music in megabyte).
MP3 files tend to have bigger file size compared to WMA.

Copying MP3 files to phone.

I think the problem is with the music, because some phones does not accept some kind of music, i mean the format: WMA, MP3, WAV, I suggest you to go back to the phone's book and search for what format of music your Mp3 cellphone Accept..
