It seems when using a search engine to locate the free downloads of a owner's manual, one must fight through pages of results sales pitches attempting to hawk this free information at a price.

This just makes it difficult to wade through all the extraneous waste created to locate a manual download.

I have a bit of luck going through original manufacturers sites and looking for manuals which are usually offered downloads free of charge.

In the present case with my Remington chainsaw I doubt it was manufactured by Remington, rather suggest it likely was subcontracted out and the manufacturer made it for Remington, placing the Remington brand on one of their identical machines.

If I knew who made Remington, I would likely know where the manual could then be located for download.

Thank you very much Brother Smith! Trees shall tremble at my approach! Brad "Timber" Cobb.

My saw is gas powered, and unfortunately, despite your fine and most helpful efforts, the link you've discovered (alas!) contains information on electric powered Remington chain saws.

Way my saw is working now, reminds me of...

Man buys new chain saw at dealer and is assured a large amount of wood can be bucked each day.

Man returns saw, complaining that only modest amounts of logs could be cut.

Dealer checks out saw, and the engine roars into life!

Man says: Whatever is that loud sound?

How do I shut off my 017 stihl

If your kill switch doesn't work, turn the choke on until the engine dies. Be sure to turn the choke off afterwards so the engine doesn't flood. IF you are mechanically inclined you can probably fix the kill switch yourself. otherwise you can use the choke as described, it won't hurt anything on your saw, I have a Stihl 011 with a bad kill switch that I've been using for years.

Stihl MS 180 C master control - kill switch not working

Hi guys, hadthe same problem before and it was basically a build up of dirt and oil on the control lever there is a copper connection on the pivot part of the control lever. If you get some carb cleaner in a spray can and just give it a good clean and as a rule blow througha nd clean your saw with compressed air regularly. aif you cant stop the saw by putting the lever to 0 put it to Choke on that will stop it.
Good luck
Hope it helps

How does the belt go on a Craftsman FS5500

Step 1

Consult your owner's manual to get the proper part number for the drive belt needed for your particular lawn mower model and purchase it.
Step 2

Turn your lawn mower on its side or put your riding mower up on blocks so you can get to the underside of your mower's deck.
Step 3

Clean the underside of your deck. This can most easily be accomplished by carefully scraping the underside of the deck with a long handled flat blade screwdriver. Remove any pieces of drive belt that are still attached to the pulleys that are visible.
Step 4

Locate the tensioner. This is a pulley that can move when it is loosened. Use your ratchet to loosen the bolt holding the tensioner in place. Allow the tensioner to move closer to the other pulleys.
Step 5

Check your owner's manual for the proper way to position your drive belt over the pulleys. On most models the drive belt simply goes around the drive pulley, the tensioner and the pulley connected to the blades, but some models are slightly different.
Step 6

Pull the tensioner tight until there is less than 1/2 inch of play in the drive belt when you push on it between pulleys. Tighten the bolt holding the tensioner in place once the belt is as tight as the owner's manual suggests.

I need an owners manual for a Craftsman 6" x 9" Belt & Disc bench top electric sander. Where may I go to "download" a copy. The specs for this sander are : 6" x 48" belt at 2700 FPM ...

Go to: and enter the full code number minus the decimal point. That will take you to a series of drawings with parts lists. Hopefully, they still list the owner's manual. Good luck!

Won't start. on/off switch stuck, choke won't engage.

Mine did the same thing. Take off the cylinder cover as described above. Take off the screw holding the on/off switch. <br /> Bend the bottom of the silver metal shutoff band down where it rides against the back of the switch. Bend until switch turns on and off smoothly.<!-- from fixya rte -->
