the screen is lined with touch pad that makes it respond to touch, that pad is damaged and must be changed.go and buy the touch screen pad, remove the spoilt one to fix the new one.you will have to unscrew the phone
The cause of this problem is not something that can easily be fixed at home or by one who is not an expert in the profession. As you can see, the underlying screen which is responsible for the reading and response to various touches or pressure exerted upon the screen of the phone may not be broken physically but might have disconnected or may be bad and therefore needs a replacement. When this occurs, the screen is just there like a normal glass and does not allow the phone to respond to any kind of pressure exerted upon the surface of the screen. The best advise you can get is to do one of two things. The first thing to do is for you to try to calibrate the screen sensitivity under the settings menu. There is a setting for calibration or pen calibration if you go through the phone thoroughly. Also, if that doesn't respond as well, the only option left is for you to take the phone to a well-known phone repairer or a phone shop. Remember if your phone is still under warranty, you can give it back and collect a brand new one. Although there are some shops that buy faulty phones and allow you to collect new ones if you would add a little amount of money to it. Hope this was helpful? at first calibrate first your touchscreen sensitivity. at the control panel>setup wizzard>press next til the screen present you about calibration. > set up that and save if you have already copy your contacts from sim to your phone just ignore when it displays copy simcontacts to your phone. hope this helps. *if software calibration doesnt fis this maybe it is the hardware.:(
The problem you are experiencing is due to the fact that the LCD screen of your phone is bad, hence the touch screen will fail to respond.
The solution to the problem is to replace the LCD screen of the phone,to restore your phone back to a normal working condition,if you are technically inclined and you think you can do this yourself, please let me know so i can give you a detailed stepwise guide to help you with the disassembly of your p1i,

Does it respond to keyboard entry? If not, check to see if the "lock" icon on the screen is in the locked position. It's real easy to accidentially lock the device. If it is, just click on the lock and confirm that you want to unlock.
The next few can be a problem if the screen is not responding, so you'll need to figure out the keyboard equivalent:
You may also want to check the system settings. I believe there is a setting that will enable you to "turn off" the touch screen function.
Finally, try a touchscreen alignment in the system settings.
