I have a hotpoint WF540 Could you tell me what the flashing lights- on/off,final spin, wash enhance, reduced creases, rinse hold and mini load, mean these all flash when switching on and trying to use, eventually it will usually start correctly if the mains are switched of and switched on again Thanks ****

If they flash all at the same time means that there is a faulty control panel.

Try unplugging power cord for one hour to see if it clears the error.

If the error (lights flashing) do not go away after restarting, then check if there is water inside the machine.

If there is water, check the drain hose and unclogged it, a faulty draining pump can also jam the control timer, and give you the problem.

If there is no water inside the machine, water supplies are connected regularly, and the cycle is not advancing with the panel flashing like a christmas tree, then you need to replace the control/timer assembly.

Try entering model number here to get parts and schematics.

    Or try here.

SOURCE: hotpoint wf540 stopping on a rinse and spin and

check pump/filter/outlet hose for blockages. if ok, check pressure switch (disc shaped item at top of machine with 4? wires and a tube) by blowing into it gently - should hear clicks, then blow into tube to pressure chamber - should be clear.

Heating eliment or PCB, is this when doing a prewash? or a normal wash excluding pre wash?
if you can manualy pump out and manualy rinse and spin, my guess is heating eliment is broke £20-£30

The 3 buttons

button selection : To select an option press the button and you will see a light come on above the button. Press again to cancel and the light will go out. You cannot alter the options once the machine is running. Note : remember to cancel buttons after use!

As you look at the machine
Left hand button... Rinse Hold.. use this option to Help reduce creasing of delicate or synthetic fabrics by holding clothes in the final rinse water. The rinse hold light will flash to indicate that the programme is holding final rinse water. Complete the final spin by pressing the Rinse Hold button when light is flashing.
This is not available with Wool or Spin only programmes.

Middle Button.... Energy Save... use this option to save money and time on lightly soiled loads. This is not available with the Quick Wash, Rinse and Spin, or Spin Only programmes.

Right Hand Button .... Super Rinse... use this option for Large Wash loads and items for young children or people with sensitive skin. This option increases the water level for the first two rinses. This is not available with Cold Wash, Rinse and Spin or Spin Only programmes.

Copied from my Hotpoint FEW12 user instruction sheet.
Hope it helps.

HOTPOINT AQUARIUS WF 250 ON/OFF LIGHTS FLASHING

The lights are set off by the balance sensors. And if your balance sensors are  stopping    it from spinning than you first have to make sure the washer is level. You  could have bad Shocks and a bad electronic control board,.
