How do you replace the antenna cable on a 2002 Chrysler Voyager

Antenna broken off inside the base piece on the fender. Have from dealer a new antenna and cable assembly. Do I access the assembly by removing the plastic liner under the fender. Also, do I also need the base that sets on top the fender? It is a separate part. I tried to remove the broken antenna piece with an easy out but only made matters worse.

There should only be two bolts on the back of the caliper holding it into the knuckle. Removing those two bolts should free the caliper. In fact I believe they're 12 or 13 millimeter bolts.

SOURCE: Removing the windshield washer reservoir in a 2002 Chrysler T&C

REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Remove the engine fresh air housing inside the engine compartment.
  3. Disconnect the washer hose at the in-line connector forward of the cowl grille so that the in-line connector remains with the washer hose from the fresh air plenum.
  4. Disconnect the washer hose from the hose clip located on the front fender side shield.
  5. Remove the filler tube screw.
  6. Hoist and support vehicle on hoist or jack stands.
  7. Remove the right front wheel and tire assembly.
  8. Disconnect the left right front wheelhouse splash shield and move aside.
  9. Drain washer fluid from the reservoir and into a suitable clean container. This can be done by disconnecting the windshield washer hose from the front (outboard) washer pump and allowing the washer fluid to drain into a container through a temporary jumper hose connected to the front washer pump.
  10. Disconnect the electrical body harness connectors to the washer pump motors and the fluid level sensor. Slide the red lock on the connector to the release position, then, depress the black tab and pull the connector off the pump or sensor.
  11. Remove the two reservoir mounting screws.
  12. Disconnect the reservoir from the body mount by raising the reservoir upward slightly and then down so that the reservoir filler neck and front washer hose pull through the opening in the front fender side shield.
INSTALLATION

  1. Push filler neck and front washer hose through the opening in the front fender side shield. Connect the reservoir to the body mount by lowering the reservoir down.
  2. Install the two reservoir mounting screws. Torque screws to 8.5 - 11.3 Nm (75 - 100 in. lbs.) .
  3. Connect the electrical body harness connectors to the washer pump motors and the fluid level sensor. Slide the red lock on the connector to the closed or locked position.
  4. Assure that washer is properly routed to prevent pinching and possible inoperative washers.
  5. Connect the left right front wheelhouse splash shield and move aside.
  6. Install the right front wheel and tire assembly.
  7. lower vehicle from hoist or jack stands.
  8. Install the filler tube screw. Torque screw to 8.5 - 11.3 Nm (75 - 100 in. lbs.) .
  9. Connect the washer hose to the hose clip located on the front fender side shield.
  10. Connect the washer hose at the in-line connector forward of the cowl grille.
  11. Install the engine fresh air housing inside the engine compartment.
  12. Connect the battery negative cable.
  13. Verify system operation.

How to remove antenna for fender replacement 2002 saturn vue

At the base of the antenna there should be a nut around the antenna rods . Undo this nut and the base will fall out inside the fender. If the nut will not come over the knob on the end of the antenna wire bit. hold the wire with a pair of multi grips and undo the knob with a pair of pliers.

Need to replace radio antenna on a 99 isuzu rodeo

I just replaced the antenna on our 02 rodeo. No need to remove radio or anything in dash. This is how I did it.
First you will need access to back of fender, enough room for your hand. Open hood and remove 3 bolts running along top of fender, open passenger door and remove top bolt holding fender. Gently pry top of fender away from vehicle. Place object in gap to hold fender ( I used the head of a rubber mallet). Reach inside fender and disconnect old antenna, follow cable through wall into passenger compartment. Gently pull cable from behind carpet and unplug old antenna from coupler. Connect new antenna to fender ( replacement antenna I ordered was slightly smaller than opening so I had to add washer). Run new antenna cable through wall and plug into coupler. Re-attach fender

Try a new antenna temporarily--just hold the mast base in your hand. Water can enter the antenna cable from outside which shorts it out. Hope this helps!

How do you replace an antenae on a 1965 mustang.

Disconnect the cable at the radio. Then unscrew the hardware holding the antenna to the fender. Then pull the antenna base out of the fender, disconnect the cable from the antenna base turning it back and forth with pliers or you can cut it. Do not let the cable fall back into the fender. Now take the cable from the new antenna and duct tape it to new antenna cable. Now inside the car pull on the old cable until the new cable reaches the radio. Plug cable into radio then hook up the hardware on the fender for the new antenna and you're done. Good luck.

Antenna mast broken

Give these instructions a shot. Might be too generic but might be enough to get you going. Removing Original Antenna
  1. Step 1 Activate the antenna switch to the up position.
  2. Step 2 Using the wrench or needle-nose pliers, loosen and remove the original retaining nut on the base of the antenna mast.
  3. Step 3 Gain access to the underside of the area where the antenna is located.
  4. Step 4 Remove the bracket or brace that is below the hole and holding the antenna in place.
  5. Step 5 Remove the mast.
  6. Step 6 Find the motor that controls the antenna mast. Generally, power antennas will have a constant 12-volt lead and a ground lead. The ground lead will be grounded to the panel next to the motor.
  7. Step 7 Remove the ground lead from the panel.
  8. Step 8 Pull out the antenna coaxial cable.
  9. Step 9 Unplug the coaxial from the extension coaxial cable.
  10. Step 10 Remove the original antenna coaxial cable. Note the route the cable follows.
    Installing the New Power Antenna
  11. Step 1 Inspect the fender area where the antenna mast will be mounted for rust.
  12. Step 2 Clean the area before installing the new antenna.
  13. Step 3 Plug the new antenna coaxial cable to the extension coaxial cable. (On some General Motors and Ford cars you may need an adapter to mate the 2 cables together. Car audio retail stores sell such an adapter.)
  14. Step 4 Plug the new antenna's coaxial cable into the radio's chassis antenna jack if there is no extension coaxial cable. Tie or tape the string you put on the extension cable to the new antenna coaxial cable. This assures that the 2 cables stay together as you route them to the antenna mount in the fender.
  15. Step 5 Connect the power lead of the antenna to the power antenna lead on the radio.
  16. Step 6 Connect the 12-volt constant lead to the antenna to a 12-volt source or to the ignition switch.
  17. Step 7 Direct the new antenna cable via the same route followed by the original antenna cable on up to the hole in the fender in which the mast will be mounted.
  18. Step 8 Ground the ground lead from the motor to a clean metal surface on the metal panel near the mount.
  19. Step 9 Insert the mast into the hole. Face the serrated side of the plastic cable on the bottom of the mast toward the motor side. The plastic cable can be inserted freely to about 12 inches and will stop.
  20. Step 10 Turn on antenna switch to down position until the plastic cable goes down and catches into the gear mechanism of the drum housing. If the plastic cable does not gear into the mechanism, twist the cable slightly until the cable contacts into the gear mechanism while the motor is in operation.
  21. Step 11 Stop the motor after the cable goes into the housing 12 to 25 inches.
  22. Step 12 Secure the bracket or strap to the bottom of the antenna mast and to the metal fender.
  23. Step 13 Replace the retainer nut to the base of the antenna mast and secure tightly.
  24. Step 14 Replace the panel that covers the antenna mount area.

Tacoma radio antenna

Use an antenna wrench to remove the chrome nut (I found a wrench on JC Whitney's website). Once the nut's removed, do the following (copied from the factory service manual):

REMOVE ANTENNA ROD

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ”LOCK” position.
(b) Press the ”AM, FM” buttons on the radio receiver, and simultaneously
turn the ignition switch to ”ACC” position.
HINT:
The rod will extend fully and be released form the motor
antenna.
After removing the antenna rod, leave the ignition switch
on ”ACC” position.
NOTICE:
To prevent body damage when the antenna rod is released,
hold the rod while it comes out.
2. Auto Antenna Models:
INSTALL ANTENNA ROD
(a) Insert the cable of the rod until it reaches the bottom.
HINT:
When inserting the cable, the teeth on the cable must face
toward the rear of the vehicle.
Insert the antenna approx. 300 mm (11.8 in.).
(b) Wind the cable to retract the rod by turning the ignition
switch to ”LOCK” position.
HINT:
If the ignition switch is already in ”LOCK” position, do step
1 (c) first, then turn the ignition switch to ”ACC” position.
In case the cable is not wound, twist it, as shown in the
illustration.
Even if the rod has not retracted fully, install the antenna
nut and inspect the antenna rod operation. It will finally retract
fully.
(c) Inspect the antenna rod operation by pressing the radio
wave band select buttons.

You can buy a new power mast online (ex. Discount Toyota Parts) for about $30.
