Hi Darcy: the "D" stands for Diameter, and the "F" stands for focal length.
so its a 100mm=4 inches. 900mm is how long the light is..to reach the eyepiece.
let me know if this helps.

I have a tasco 511300 D=4 1/2 F=900mm need instruction manual if have one

You will not find a manual for that REFLECTOR style telescope. However they all assemble the same way. Meade scopes maintains a web site with all of their manuals. Look under the 4.5" REFLECTOR header for one that is similar to your telescope.

http://www.meade.com/manuals/index.html

The manuals will NOT tell you how to use the scope to find objects in the sky. Read my tips on my profile page and read this:

I picked up a used Meade 114 EQ AS on the off

First go to Meade's manual web site -- look under the REFLECTOR heading and download a manual. Here:
http://www.meade.com/manuals/index.html

Second-- It's NOT ASTROLOGY! It's Astronomy!

Astrology is completely fake and superstitious belief that the planets and stars affect your life!

The MIRROR is on the bottom of the telescope- this is called a REFLECTOR style telescope. The focuser is on the TOP (side) of the telescope. Make sure the focuser end is UP and the mirror is on the bottom pointed toward the GROUND.

Can you help me find a manual for a 40-114675 Tasco telescope? The D=114mm, and theF=900mm.

Here is the manual:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/11827347/Tasco-Telescope-Manual

This is a small reflector telescope. If it is on an EQ mount, the mount must be roughly polar aligned in order to use the telescope. Read my EQ TIP on my profile page.

These small equitorial telescopes do not have manuals. However Meade maintains a list of manuals at this web site. Look under REFRACTOR and find one similar to your telescope. They are all very much alike in assembly and use.

Hi does anyone know anything about f1000114 sturnam short tube reflector telescope thankyou

Never heard of that brand. But all newtonian/reflector style telescopes work the same way.

Look around the Meade telescope manual web site for a reflector scope similar to your telescope.

Look under REFLECTORS-

675x Reflector Telescope F:900mm

To the second guy posting the same problem-- you went and bought a cheap department store telescope--- what do you expect for $89-- ???

If you would have spent just a little bit more you could have had one of these--

Don't buy telescopes at Wal Mart or Sears!
