ADSL modem connected to a Windows 2000 PC network card. This is a firsttime install. Previously, only a router and regular modems had beenconfirmed on this PC.
All 3 lights are on but when doing settings -> control panel ->adsl I get:
Error 692: There was a hardware failure in the modem (or other connecting device) windows 2000 ethernet
The phone company exchanged the modem once saying it was bad. New one has the same problem.
- I've been told that if all 3 lights are on it's more likely an ISP issue. Any suggeestonis? Both phone support
- MS has some suggestions on their web site but none fit the bill: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/122839/EN-US/#appliesto
Modem details:
AZTECH ADSL2+ETHERNET ROUTER DSL-600E
Nov 24, 2008
- I suspect there's some confusion in the setup as to whether the device is acting as a modem or as a router since I think it can be both. In the latter case, there shouldn't be any dialing necessary at all. The fact that all 3 lights are on when turned on would lead to this direction. If this is so, I just need to do a LAN connection setup with which I'm familiar.
You posted userid/pw combinations. Is there a standard IP? I was told 10.0.0.38 for this device.
I'm actually trying to help my son out on this. I thought I'd get to him yesterday but it won't be until later in the week. And then I can see the installation manual, too. :)
Thanks.... Steve
