Most likely the video card does not support this resolution. Contact the video card manufacturers website and take a look at the video output specifications. If it does support the resolution then check and make sure that you have the most recent drivers for the video card.

I bought a new LTC montor to replace an old Samsung monitor and I don't know what plugs in where.

Hi there. There are generally 3 ways to plug a monitor into a computer as well as a power plug that plugs into the wall. The 3 connections are as follows: 1) VGA - this is the plug that has blue connectors. It is the most common but is losing popularity. It is likely what your old Samsung used to plug into the computer. 2) DVI - this is the plug with the white connector. It is becoming more popular today as it gives a better quality picture, however most computers without special video cards can't plug this in. 3) HDMI - this is the same connector that is used for high Definition TVs. It is the least common to have this connector on a tower computer. Chances are your new monitor has both DVI and VGA and it might even have HDMI depending on the model number of your monitor. VGA is likely the type of plug that your computer will accept. Check the back of your new monitor and see if has a blue connector with little holes in it. If it does then check to see if it came with a cable with a blue connector on each end. If it doesn't then you might have to go and buy one. You only need to plug in one of these types of connections at a time, so just choose one. I hope this helps.

The monitor you just bought died - hardware failure. Take it back to the one from which you bought it and either replace it or get your money back.

Bought Samsung 2233BW Monitor, hooked the two plugs, power and DV1 cord started computer and switched on monitor, NOTHING HAPPENED. Silly thing just unhooked Samsung and hooked back up the AOC monitor no...

You might need to go into the monitor's setup menu and select the digital input. (That's DVI, by the way, for Digital Video Input, and not DV1.) Some monitors automatically detect the input but not all of them. Obviously, this doesn't apply if the Samsung has only a DVI input. It might also be necessary to tell the video card to turn on the DVI output. You can do this with your old AOC connected and use the video setting utility supplied with the video card.

Researching before buying

You can absolutely handle any screen you want. Just make sure if its an older computer to find a VGA connection on the new monitor and that will work out perfectly fine :).

Are you using the DIVX Codec for watching these downloaded movies? Go into the configuration of the decoder, find the 'deblocking' setting and change it to "none".

Monitor shuts off and on

I had the same problem, so I switched the Auto Source feature to "Manual" and so far it's working fine for the past 2 days, if I run into the problem again I'll update this message.

On the side panel of your monitor, press the top button to access the menu, scroll down to the setup menu (by pressing the 3rd button down on the panel), press the 4th button down to enter the setup menu, scroll down to "Auto Source", use the 4th button to select, "Auto" & "Manual" are your choices.. press the 2nd button down to select "Manual" then the top button to exit the menu(s).

This monitor is set up to be able to do multi display with the software included. Utilizing both Digital and Analog signals. I'm not using this feature so I'm not sure how switching the Auto Source off will affect the performance of this feature.

My new hp w2207h monitor, pop up keep telling me to install driver. when i install driver a error message comes up.what should i do.

Go to - CONTROL PANEL - DEVICE MANAGER then find monitors in the list, right click the desired device, then PROPERTIES this will tell you if the device is working properly. then click update drivers. If this fails check your screen resolution settings. The safest thing is to set it to default.Sometimes the graphics card isnt big enough for the monitor so try tweaking visual settings like shadows and fonts. Things like message box outlines and shadows can be turned off too speed the image up.If your using vista your probably using the default theme AERO/GLASS. Change it to a normal theme of your choice but dont use GLASS. this uses quite alot of graphics power.
