Question about Yamaha HTR-5850 Receiver
I have all my speakers working to my JBL surround system but my sub does not seem to be connected correctly. When watching tv you really cannot hear the bass only a hum from the amp. I have the subs LFE input connected to the sub output on the receiver. Is this correct?
If you do not have the digital hook up from the tv to the reciever
then you will not get the subwoofer sounds or the dolby digital sounds
if you don't have this on your tv then just turn off the dolby digital when watching the tv , and you should be able to hear the subwoofer thru the virtual surround sound
hope this info is worth a fixya and if you need other help then just ask me and
i'll be glad to help

Tips for a great answer:

Have you tried the "Simulated" surround setting?
If you don't get sound in "Simulated" mode then you have probably lost the surround channels.
If you do get sound then your "Media"
is not recorded with a surround "Track". or the surround "Processor" may have issues that need to go to the repair shop.
