I have the same problem. Bought it refurbished, it didnt' work from day one. i guess it never bothered me enough to look into it. I have no solution, but I can tell you that totally dissasembling it does not reveal any obvious battery or issues. So it must be a capacitor that holds the memory.

On remote control before you shut off yor receiver press "TEST" button to save the memory. It will save every setting. Make sure to do that all the time after you change the setings.

ONKYO TX-SR307. Problem with volume/sound getting lower. "Setup" does not alter / resolve the issue. Please help

Hi, if this has not been resolved please try the following reset:

To do the reset you need to turn the receiver on, then on the front panel of the receiver press and hold the "VCR/DVR" button while doing that press the "STANDBY/ON" button. You will see the word "Clear" in the display screen and the receiver will go into standby mode. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR AUDIO & VIDEO ASSIGNMENTS ON THE RECEIVER PLUS YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR SPEAKER CONFIGURATIONS, SPEAKER DISTANCE AND ALL LEVEL CALIBRATION SETTINGS. YOU WILL ALSO LOSE ANY PROGRAMMED RADIO STATIONS IN MEMORY. Once the receiver goes into standby mode turn it back on and go thru the setup menu for all custom settings, Thanks, JT

Too much voltage going in the receiver or you have the wrong size fuse in it.
