Hi Friends,
I have replaced small electrolytes near the Audio Chip in a Videocon LCD for cracking and then stopping of sound recently. None of these capacitors was swollen up. We generally discard the entire board for this fault. A little bit of digging up produces results. I hope this may help

Look first to see if you have audio when a DVD etc. is connected to the audio/video input this set has on the rear.

My 42" rca flatscreen has a picture but no sound the sound started cracking then went away no i have no audio what can i do to fix this

Check to make sure that your speaker wires are not pinched. If the wires look good, then your main board is the culptrit.

I have a Bush 42"

The screen is the most expensive part of the TV.

This plus engineers cost would be not cost effective.

It would be worth getting a quote but more than likely getting a new TV would be better.

The sound from the amp does not match up with the video on the TV. We have 2- 25' RCA jacks, 1 to the "Video" and 1 to the "Audio-R" in the "AV IN 1" section. Are our cables...

If those are rca jacks on tv being used to go to amp ?
Are you sure they are not input TO tv rather than outputs ?
YOu must use the AV out connectors on TV to go to amp.
25 inces is fine.

I have a Maxent mx-42, after about an hr the sound starts to pop and gets all fuzzy, picture is still good but no sound then. turning the tv off for a few min solves the problem for alittle bit but it...

I have never serviced an mx-42, but what you describe is a very typical thermal failure of an audio output semi-conductor All semi-conductors contain multiple internal "junctions" thru which current flows and the audio signals are processed. At some point a junction develops a physical crack. At room temperatures the junction is cracked but the two sides are touching each other so current flows and the device works. However.....any time current flows heat is generated. (That's why most power semi-conductors are mounted to large pieces of aluminum, to eliminate excess heat. As the device heats up the substrate will begin to expand, and at the microscopic level the two ends of the junction begin to separate. Picture an earthquake. First a small crack appears along this tiny "fault line". As the device continues to warm up, the crack widens. Since current is the physical movement of electrons from atom to atom some of them make the jump from one side to the other. Small as it is, this is "arcing" and it is the crackling noise you hear. Eventually the two edges separate completely, that's the pop. At that point current stops flowing and the device starts to cool. The substrate cools and shrinks, current will flow and the device works but starts to get hot again. The fix would be to locate the device, wait until it starts to fail, then cool it using a can freeze spray. (Many, many times opening a unit has allowed enough heat to escape that I could not duplicate the problem until I put it back together.) If you lack the technical skills or finances try a fan! Often, lowering the internal temperature of your unit will extent its use. Hope this helped.

Cracked plasma screen

A plasma display is a very expensive part to replace. When the plasma display is broken, the tv is usually not worth repair.

Call Nec at the number listed on the owner manual, and ask a quote on part or repair.

Regards.
