SOURCE: how to redirect lpt print to canon lbp-3000 printer

The LBP-3000 is a GDI (AKA Windows-only) printer, accordingly with its Specifications, so, there's no way to drive it simply redirecting the DOS data flow.

You may want to have a look at Printfil to enable DOS printing to USB/GDI printers

If you're the original Fox programmer, you may also find this article useful: How to print from Clipper DOS to any Windows printer (well, it was written for Clipper, but Clipper and Fox are pretty similar)

Hope this help.

SOURCE: slow printing

I'M USING MY BJC 80 ON A PACKARD BELL M35-U-57, VISTA HOME BASIC. CONNECTED THE PRINTER WITH A GENERIC USB-PARALELL CABLE, NO DRIVER. FIRST HAD THOSE 5 TO 7 MINUTES DELAYS FOR PRINTING. WENT TO THE PRINTERS "PROPERTIES", "ADVANCED OPTIONS" AND TICKED "PRINT DIRECTLY", IN THE "PORTS" SECTION I DISABLED "BIDERECTIONAL PORT". IT'S WORKING SWEET. NO MATTER THE QUALITY. Printer is on but appears to be offline to desktop

If you have already checked to see that the USB cable was plugged-in at BOTH ends.

Try disconnecting the printer from the back of the PC and moving it to an un-used USB port. See if the system detects a new device connected, (it will install drivers automatically if it does.)

If it does not, then the cable may be damaged, get a new USB cable.

How to connect my printer to a router

This model Canon printer has onlt an USB connection to a computer.
The only way to connect this printer to a router is to install a printer server with an USB connector, connect the printer to the print server and then connect the print server to the router using a LAN cable.
The printer driver needs to be installed on all the computers on your network and then to the printer properties then Port tab and add a TCP/IP port then configure this port with the print server's IP address.
Do a test print and if the test print is OK then printer is installed correctly.

Can we use MF6550 for wireless network?

If you use a wireless USB print server like this . Keep in mind that you may not get all functions such as scanning to work but it will allow for printing for sure. If the scanning works consider it a bonus.

How can the Canon MX310 be connected to a wireless network?

This model printer was not equipped with wireless capability, so you can't connect this to a wireless network without some extra hardware. (Canon's support page for this printer is here where all the features are listed.)

What you'll need is a USB print server that provides the link from the printer to the network. You can get a wired type like this one, which hooks to one of the wired ports on your router. You can also find wireless servers if the printer isn't located conveniently. Then the printer can be anywhere within range of the network, just like any other wireless device.

Hope this has helped. Thanks for using Fixya!

Canon mx310 feeds paper w/out printing

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Canon pixma MX310 scanner not working

I read somewhere that the printer/scanner must be plugged directly into the computer in order to scan.  I tried it, and it works.  Printing can be done wirelessly, but apparently not scanning!

Can't print to mac wirelessly (could do it a few days ago)

I had the same problem until recently. You have to install the drivers FROM THE CD that came with the printer, instead of selecting the drivers from the default list. Then, when selecting which printer driver to use (you'll have two options) choose Canon IJ and NOT Canon MX310 series. This is a problem with their MX310 driver, which is solved using a default/generic Canon InkJet (hence, the IJ) driver. Hope this helps!
P.S. This only works on Mac OS X. I have yet to figure out how to print wirelessly through Vista. Will keep you posted.

Printing to a Canon MX310 through a print server

i got my dp-301u to work fine with my hp1020 on 2 different workstations with the following steps.

1. install printer locally via usb and test.
2. create a second printer as per the dlink manual creating a port. don't worry about the name as we will delete it.
3. once created go into the properties of the 2nd printer and change the port to something local - anything will do to free up the port.
4. go into the properties of the printer that was created in step 1. and change the port to that of the print server.
5. test print. should work fine.

cheers!!

Connecting printer to SBS (Small Business Server)

You can physically connect the printers to the server and share it from there or leave the printers connected to your computer and have the server connect to them via a Local Port which routes to your computer!! To do the Create the local ports you'll need to 1.) share the printers on your pc 2.) Go to the server and go to printers in control panel 3.)Click on Add a new printer then next 4.)Select Local Printer connected to this computer; De-select Automatically Detect Printer 5.)Select Create new port and select Local Port 6.)In the enter a port name, enter the full network path to the printer i.e. \\your-pc-name\printer-share-name click ok 7.) Select the drivers for that specific printer(if its not there click on have disk then browse to the drivers to install them) 8.) Continue through the installation until finish) 9.) Repeat steps for additional printers Keep in mind that your computer still needs to be on! You can check to see if your printer support a network card to make them fully network printer you can add them to the server this way and only the server would need to be on! Or you can also get a print server(Device that makes regular printers into network printers). Now when it comes to the scanning, i don't know of any way to share a scanner with just windows alone, but there are third party software that allows you to do that Check out http://www.remote-scan.com/ There are also printers that sorta do the scanners sharing by automatically scanning and putting files in a designated area on the network! Hope this was helpful regards, babb
