Question about Toshiba CF35E50 35" TV

1 Answer

Black Square Covers 80% of screen on most channels on TV

I have a 35" CF35E50 Toshiba. Have Comcast cable. I get a good full picture on about 8 channels and all the others (70 or so) I have a large black square covering the picture except for the outer 2 inches of the screen. The cable channel number will show in the bottom right corner of the black square. Sound is good on all channels. The other 2 TV's in the house have no problem, so it's not the signal. No channels are locked and a cable box is not used.

No picture, no sound. Red power light on.

Probable power supply failure. The red light merely indicates power is getting to the TV.

Horizontal bright line sound is fine will sometimes go normal with hit to side of TV

Sound like cold solder joints on the vertical output ic. The vertical output ic is usually a inline 7-9 pin chip that begins with la prefix. Not hard to repair at all just be careful not to touch anywhere near the anode leads to the picture! Basically it will knock the **** out of you. lol..
