I tried that but didnt work. I put a shift motor on and I got it out of 4 wheel low and it will not go into 4 wheel high. Only 2 wheel to 4 wheel low works, when I put it in neutral. I put it in park when I tried to put it into 4 wheel high no lites come on the switch on the dash and stays in 2 wheel. If anyone else has the same problem please help me. On mine you need to put it into neutral and then engage the 4high or whatever dive setting you want funny it only happens when you select 4low - for me atleast

Are you sure that it is not in 2-wheel low and not the sensor on the actuator Maybe stuck possibly halfway out that may be causing a false reading I have had experience with Tahoes 4 wheel drive getting stuck and not reading properly only the electronic models
is the 4wd light on if not go in reverce for 20 30 feet then if idoesnt work then it might be the plunger on the front axel make sure your contacts are clean
Sounds like the 4x4 unit has not been used for a while. This is a common problem. If cleaning and reinstalling the electrical connectors dose not solve the problem then, try this procedure before replacing the control module.
Be sure to put the truck in neutral, while engine is running, while you disengage from 4 wheel drive (low) to 4 wheel drive (high) and then finally to 2 wheel drive. It is critical to shift transmission into neutral when switching out of 4WD Low, as indicated in your owner's manual. Hopefully, this will help to FixYa problem!
I ran across this problem with another vehicle....try putting it in another position (2 wheel high, 4 wheel high) and rocking it from drive to reverse, drive to reverse. Also try backing up at a pretty good clip and stepping on the brakes hard.....hope this works for you.
