Kenmore 53603 / 53606 Stainless Steel Side by Side Refrigerator

Ice Machine (by 14 users)

posted by ACJetton on Dec 27, 2006

The ice machine is no longer making ice. It is "ON" and the water dispenser still works, but there is no ice being made. The freezer is still very cold and it is set to zero degrees. I've cleaned under it, it was somewhat dusty, but nothing major. Any help you can offer will be appreicated.
I have the same problem.

Model JFC2089HEP
The ice maker was working fine, actually it made a little too much ice. One day I took the ice tray out to dump most of the ice into an ice chest. To get the tray out I raised the little wire bar, not knowing this would stop the ice making. I've since discovered the function and have put it down, BUT there is no ice being made.

I've tried the "speed ice" setting, but this doesn't appear to help either.

Help please!

I have seen two issues in my experience that may or may not apply to your situation. In one instance the water feed tube or trough stooped the flow of water to the ice maker and this produce a small transient water leak initially and then it stopped working and leaking eventually as the blocked tube did not thaw.

The other issue was ice in the ice maker that lodged in the blades of the ejector and prevented ice production.

95% of ice maker problems are the motor module. See http://tinyurl.com/ykln8r for what it is and if it matches your fridge. Basically here's what ya need for ice... 17 degrees (F) or below, water fill solenoid working with water flow, t-stat on ice tray working OK and motor module turning.

I had similar problems during the summer weeks.

Cleaning the dust in the componet and grill above the top door and then turning the freezer nob all the way down (coldest) seemed to do the trick.

Now it works fine during the winter. Hope this helps!

We had the same problem. The plastic dial on the motor module was broken. The repairman told us that the dial is not sold alone and the module costs between $70 and $90. We got a module out of another refrigerator which wasn't working and replaced it. The ice maker is doing great!

I had the same problem and it was the motor module. I replaced the module and the ice started coming. It's not a very hard do-it-yourself job, either.

Happens to mine also. You will find lots of solutions to check that motor, try the switch, yada yada. Mine simply ices over in the tray and the Ice has issues releasing. I tap the old ice off the ice makers "fingers" and it starts creating ice again.

1) Vacuum the dust build-up from the coils every month. 2) Install a water softener or a 5 micron carbon type filter to remove limestone (scale) build-up, if using city water.

I have a frigidaire refrigerator, I moved from one house to the other the first day the frig worked fine. The second day the ice started melting, and stop making ice. The freezer side and the frig. side was not getting cold. The freezer side started to get ice on the back panel. What could be the problem?

My U-Line clear ice maker is also not making ice. The water is running but the unit is not cold. Ii have run the cleaning cycle and done all the maintenance required (vacuumning the coils, cleaning the intakes, ect.)

i emptied my ice bucket, replaced it in the freezer compartment, made sure the wire signal arm is down and now there is no ice making. It would appear that the control for allowing the water solenoid to add water to the ice tray is not being signalled. Is there any history of a faultly switch in the front of the ice maker compartment. My fridge is one year ols, any suggestions please email me at itsmint69@aapt.net.au

Maytag french door bottom freezer model number MF12568AEW - ice maker will not make ice.  You can get water out of the door so water line is working but the ice maker is not making ice.
