Question about Smeg S1100MFX5 Electric Single Oven
RE: KitchenAid Electric Range ProLine Series and Architect Series KESA907Purchased 5/2005
The oven makes a high-pitched whining noise during use and for about 10-15 minutes after use, on both the regular and the convection setting. It is loud enough that I sometimes mistake it for the hood vent fan, though in reality it is not quite as loud. Using the stovetop does not cause this sound.
We did not purchase this, it was in the apartment that we moved into in September 2008 and has always made this annoying noise at least since then.
Everything else seems to work fine. Thanks

probably the clock not set properly - you have the oven on automatic. switch off at mains, wait 5 mins and set the clock according to the manual. if the over-temp stat has operated, the oven goes dead

your neighbour is probably right. fan should work but if the element has disintegrated, bits of the element could be jamming the fan. take the rear panel off inside the oven and check

SOURCE: Smeg oven problem
The pop would usually mean a busted fuse. Turn off the oven, disconnect completely from the power supply and then take it apart. See if you can find any toasted fuse or roasted wires. Also the reason for tripping the mains off is due to the fact that the oven is draining more power than it should. I would recommend a thorough inspection of the oven by an electrician..

Their will be two elements in the oven a bottom element and a fan element, sounds like the latter has blown!
