Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Seems an interesting issue. For starters, pls try:

  • use a colon : to separate the MAC address every 2 character, 00:0F:1F:A9:C7;
  • confirm the two logins s/b popahle1@wi.rr.com & popahle1@.wi.rr.com, you can delete one account inside COntrol Panel / Users Accounts;
  • is the new password for an email address or for logging into the computer;
  • postback what your computer is and what operating system.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

It's as easy as 1 2 3..... wel if you see the back side of modem you will notice a switch inside a tiny hole , just put a pin in hole to press the switch for 30 seconds with modem 's power ON. Now the modem will be restored to factory settings. it' s the time you can change any thing you want included with new password. Remember the 1st time user-name will be Admin and password will be admin .

Good-luck

Reset my desktop backc to the original settings

Remove any DVDs or CDs from the optical drives and then unplug all peripheral devices except for the keyboard and mouse.

Click the "Windows" button and then type "eMachines recovery management" into the search box. Click on "eMachines recovery management" in the results list and then click the "Restore" tab.
Click "Password Settings" and then type a new password into the text box.
Click "OK" and then click "Restore System to Factory Default".

Type the recovery password into the "Password" text box and then click "OK". Click "Next" To start the recovery process.

Click "Finish" and then wait for your computer to restart.
This procedure could take several minutes. Once your computer has restarted, you'll be prompted to create a new user account, enter the date and time and set up the internet settings.

or if you are running XP

If you set your machine back to eMachines factory settings, it might help you for a short while but if you don't have effective virus protection your problems will return in short order.

You should get rid of this virus with an effective virus remover.

You can run Bitdefender's free online scan which doesn't need to be downloaded http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

If you know when you got the virus, you can do a system restore to a time before the virus was on your system. This article tells you how to run it from safe mode http://bertk.mvps.org/html/safemode.html

Your best protection in general is a complete internet security suite such as Bitdefender or Norton internet security 2009.

More information here http://www.ask-the-computer-doc.com/comp...

If you need to totally rebuild your system and you don't have a recovery disk, contact eMachines to get one.

You might also try a Windows repair install if you have the operating system disk. Follow the directions here for XP http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepa...

New laptop. Trying to set up Outlook which is loaded on the computer. I am trying to manually enter settings for incoming and outgoing mail, etc. I do not remember or have on my password/user ID list...

You call your internet service provider--the company that you use for mail. They will ask you to identify yourself and then can give you your username and password.
Your email address gives you a clue as to whom you deal with for email.

Macbook and wireless n setup how do you set it up????!!!!!

Can you clarify the problem for me:

1. Mac Type = Macbook
2. Operating System = Mac OS ?
3. What are you trying to connect to?

For example are you trying to set up a Wireless Home network, meaning that iPhones, iPods or other macs can share the one Internet Connection. This is called a Computer-to-Computer Network.

OR are you trying to configure a Wireless Modem to work with your MacBook?

Setting up a Computer-to-Computer Network is done by:

1. Select System Preferences from the Apple Menu.
2. Select Network from the Internet & Wireless section.
3. Select Airport from the list of devices.
4. Click the Turn Airport On button, located next to Status. NOTE: If it is already turned on then this button will read Turn Airport Off.
5. Select Create Network from the drop down menu adjacent Network Name.
6. Type in the preferred name that you wish to call your network in the Name field. (ie., MacBookHomeNetwork or something)
7. Select the Channel (Channel 11) is an OK one to select.
8. Choose whether you want the user to type in a password to gain access to your network. (This is recommended.) If you do, then click the check box beside Require Password.
8.1 Type in the Password into the Password field.
8.2 Type the Password again into the Verify field.
8.3 Select the type of encryption you want to use, 40bit or 128bit.
9. Click the Show Airport status in Menu Bar check box.

NOTE: If you require advanced settings, then click the Advanced ... button.

10. Apply and then go back to the System Preferences window (using the Left Arrow located top/left of window). If you get stuck, get back using Instruction No.1 above.)
11. Click the Sharing Icon in the Internet & Wireless section.
12. Select from the list each item you wish to share (i.e, File, Printer, Bluetooth, Internet, DVD or CD etc...).

NOW : From your other device, you need to locate the new Wireless Network Connection.

If it is an iPhone or iPod then go to the Settings menu and select Wi-Fi from the list. The new network should be picked up automatically. Log in to it (if you set up passwords).

I hope this helps. Regards,

Sometimes "" comp loads up asking for a boot device"" because the wires & the connectors are NOT connected properly . Did you go into the computer [laptop?, Desktop?, Tower?] and move things around? Did you pull?,shove? ,tug? at anything inside the 'comp'.?? Unplug the power and PUSH e v e r - s o - slightly EVERY PLUG, connector (cables coming from computer going to h/d [hard drive], plug power (electricity) and turn her on.... see what happens....
