Question about Reddy Heater RLP100 Portable Forced Air Propane Heater with Variable Heat Ouput

Open Question

Do I need to vent my propane heater and if so how?

I was given a Magic Chef free standing propane heater, the cabnet is steel and is medium metallic brown, about 30'' high,24'' deep and 36'' across, access door on the left side where pilot is, two burrners inside.A fan is mounted in a housing on the back right side.It has a rectangle housing centered on the backside that is open on the top, possibly for a vent but I don't know.I can't find any information about this unit. Magic Chef,Model BA 5002,serial # 10265,window below wouldn't accept the model # or serial #.

I suspect that this problem may have to do with your regulator. Only a guess though.

Try a little longer, sometimes it takes a full minute to heat the thermocouple. Check and make sure thermocouple is in flame. If all this is ok. then your going to have to change the valve.

SOURCE: reddy heater r155d look-a-like--uses same motor and pump?

155 heaters use one of 2 motors. Either 097308-06 or 102001-30 (now 102001-33), depending on your model. They do not interchange or swap betewwn heaters. Go to www.reddyparts.com . Look up each number. Your motor will have a part number printed on it. Search that model and see if there is a replacement.

SOURCE: Torpedo heater wont stay lit.

Do you have the serial number or the manufacture date? There are some design changes and I would need to know the year of manufacture to assist accurately. Usually it is a relay or the thermocouple connection that will affect the unit staying lit.

We were given an 87" stainless steel propane patio heater. Our deck ceiling is 96". Will that be enough clearance?

Had a look at the manual on a BFX750 patio heater and the distance required is 50cm above (18") and 60cm to the side (24"). If its the same type with around 13kw or 44,000BTU/h of power then this is the clearance is needed for air and heat.

I need a thermocouple for a dyna glo natural gas wall heater

Billy here's a link to A & B Sales. They have what you're looking for. Whether your heater is Natural Gas or Propane makes no difference when it comes to thermocouples. However the length of the tubing does when it's a wall or stand type vent-free heater.

Sorry, but no vent-free gas heating appliances can be converted from one gas type to another. There are no conversion kits available for any vent-free gas heating appliances.

Vent fan high comes on automatically with cooking

Right, that would be MCO10UW and the owner's manual is here.

The owner's manual does say this, of course,

"To prevent overheating from taking place, the exhaust
fan is designed to automatically turn on at a low speed if
excessive temperatures occur. Should this happen, the
fan cannot be manually turned off, but it will
automatically turn off when the internal parts have
cooled. The fan may stay on for up to an hour after the
range and microwave oven controls have been turned
off."

That;'s standard on microwaves.

But these models do have a separate internal cooling fan (which should run any time you microwave) plus the hood vent exhaust fan, which should only run when you select it, or if there is an excessive stovetop or under-hood temperature.

So if it comes on whenever you microwave, that is incorrect.

When that happens, it's usually a defective vent thermal switch (a.k.a. hood TCO).

But since it's brand new, I would certainly contact Magic Chef about this. If it's in need of repair, they will fix it free, assuming the oven wasn't physically damaged.
