Question about Insignia Digital-to-Analog Converter for Analog TVs
I have an Insignia NS-DXA1-APT DTV converter box. It was my intention to connect my TV to the converter box via the "RF" coaxial (without antenna). But, the installation screen said to make sure the antenna was connected before continuing. So I turned the TV, and the converter box off, and connected the antenna to the "From Antenna" coaxial, on the back of the converter box. When I turned the TV and converter box back on, there was no longer an installation screen on the TV. Apparently, the Insignia installation screen comes on the first time the box is turned on and after that, its lost forever! I cannot program my converter box. The remote control won't put the menu back. I should have connected the antenna without turning off the converter box! I called Insignia and they said there was nothing I could do but take it back to where I purchased it and ask for an exchange. I don't think anybody reading this can help me, but I want to throw this out to everyone who is about to install the Insignia converter box. Have your antenna connected before you turn on the converter box for the first time, and do not turn it off until you have finished programming. Insignia does not give a big enough caution on this.
All you have to do is use the auto tuning function. Your remote control has a menu button, you can get to the feature via the on-screen menu.
If you press the menu button while the box is on and you see no menu, change your television's input to match what the box's output is.
