Question about GE Profile JTP56 Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

Top oven doesn't heat.

I recently purchased a home with a ge double wall oven. It would send out f7 error codes. After doing a little research, I pulled and cleaned the ribbon cable which fixed that problem. The bottom oven works fine. The top will not hear on bake or broil. Key-pad seems fully functional for the top oven. Convection fan comes on. Just no heat.

I have the same problem but with the lower oven. The upper oven works great, thank goodness.

This started after running a self-cleaning cycle.

We had this same problem in our lower oven and found the solution the night before Thanksgiving. With 26 people coming for dinner, I desperately need both ovens. (Turn off the breaker for the oven before you do this.)

My husband took the control panel off of the upper oven and found a wiring diagram. In the text, it said there was a manual reset for each oven in the access panel for each one. He opened the access panel for the lower oven and found the reset button in the middle of that area. He said it was a black circle with a red button in the middle. After reseting, we turned the breaker back on and everything works great!!

F7 error code on GE oven

I had this code come up on a double wall oven once and I fixed it myself for $200 less by ordering the part and using Repair Clinic.com for step-by-step instructions. It still cost me $100 + for the part and $65 for a serviceperson to tell me what I already knew (the code was F7) and it seemed confusing at first but I did it! Make sure to turn the electric off first from the fuse box!

It's most likely that the error code you are seeing is F1, not F7. F1 is a code for 'stuck touch pad'. You will need to replace the clock/ERC or the touch pad (or both).

Error code F7 keeps coming up, what does this mean?

F1 error and beeping. Don't bother getting GE out there. Cost me $90 to learn they don't make the clock. WOuld have been $500+ for the control panel anyway. Better off just buying a new one. Planned obsolescence I guess. I won't buy GE again.
