What would cause the oven to only light on broil and not bake. The top burner works but the lower one does not.
GAS RANGE MODEL# 790.75751 OVEN WON'T COME ON
Re: KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK
Bad oven ignitor is the most common cause of bake failure, located onthe side of hte burner bar itself, if youd like with a multi-meter, you can check the wires leading to the ignitor for 110v. if you have power and nothing was glowing from ignitor theres your problem

I have the same problem, it turns out that the clock has a sensor in it to turn on the oven. If that sensor is not working, which is found in the clock, the oven does not work. I had a repair guy come out and it will cost 350.00 to repair. My stove is only six years old. It is only two months to the day off warranty. Apparently a power outage can cause the sensor to go. Hope this helps.
The igniter in the oven does not spark. It heats up and glows red hot until enough current opens the safety gas valve to the burner. It is not associated with the stovetop burners. Replace the oven igniter itself.
There isn't a pilot light on MOST modern gas ranges. The top burners are controlled by individual igniters through a common spark module. The oven, however, is controlled by an igniter on each manifold. One for bake, one for broil. If you are having problems with ONE of the oven features, I would suspect a bad igniter. If BOTH oven features are bad, you may have a bad Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board. If the oven works, but none of the surface burners are working, I would suspect a bad spark module. The following link explains a little theory on oven igniters:
Since your range appears to have a common gas safety valve and regulator, all burners are fed fromthe same gas source. Which means, if you have ANY burners lighting, you probably don't have a gas problem.
I hope you can determine what your problem is from the information I provided. If not, please post back and elaborate a bit more on your symptoms so that I may assist you better. I hope this helps you.
Most likely a hot-surface ignitor has failed. If it doesn't consume enough current, the gas valve won't open. It's usually a fairly easy fix, once you gain access to the ignitor and have a new one to replace it with. Make sure you unplug the range...
After you hit the function you want...bake or broil...click the up arrow. That should give you the default temp of 350 and the unit should light. Now adjust to the temp you want.

First look to see if the ignitor is coming on. Most common problem is the ignitor is weak or just bad. When the power is applied to the ignitor it glows and builds up resistance to open the gas valve then it lights. If the ignitor is weak or bad it will not build up enough resistance for gas to come into the burner. One sign of this would be a "woosh" sound when it trys to light. If the ignitor is coming on but not lighting it is most likely the ignitor is bad. Should have a full glow. Also, if the ignitor looks whiteish in color this is a sign of it going bad. You can compare to the broil ignitor to be sure. If the ignitor doesn't come on at all will need to see if you have power to the ignitor. Let me know what you find and let's solve it before you rate the solution.
