Question about HP Photosmart R707 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Everything works....but hit shutter button & it goes dead.

Camera works perfect on A/C. No problems.
Camera works perfect on battery (or A/C) on video.
But press the shutter button and all goes dead. Lense stays out and won't retract until plugged into A/C again.
Something seems to disconnect the battery once you press that shutter button. If you don't press that button, it stays on, all buttons work and (again) you can take video.
Any thoughts?

Thanks, Mark. I just tried that and it worked! I replaced the camera a while back but still had it and just now tried that. Great tip! Thanks, again.

Hold the power button in the ON position for 10 seconds, then release (obviously making sure the batteries are in first). This forces the camera to do a full reset - you will have to set the time etc when it restarts.

Hope this helps, it worked for me...

If the camera works on A/C then you need to replace the battery. If you suspect that the connection is lost when you push the shutter, try to remove and reinsert the battery. If it works, make sure that battery connectors are clean.

As soon as I turn it on, it shuts back off

Kodak offered no help with this problem and for my camera more than five years old no repair option was available. However, after thinking about this problem a solution was found. Perfectly charged old batteries and new batteries fully charged did not correct the problem. Here is what worked for me: With fully charged battery installed, place closed camera on EasyShare-One camera dock. With the the green light flashing, simultaneously depress both the power on/off button and the shutter button. With both these buttons held down, toggle the capture view switch from an intial down position to up, and then down position. Now release both the power on/off button and the shutter button simultaneously. This whole process takes about 20 seconds. Let the camera remain on the dock until the green light stops flashing. Remove the camera from the dock, open the camera back as usual and the screen will present you with date/time setup. Enter the date and time as required, hit the 'done' icon with the camera pen and the camera will now function normally. Why this works is speculative. However, the idea behind this method is to force a 'reboot' to factory settings by maximising conflicting electronic input signals.

Camera will not take pictures and I can not see anything thru

Found this on another web site. Worked for me
Turn the camera on in shooting mode.
Turn the mode selector to shutter priority (“Tv”).
Use the four-way button on the back to set the shutter speed to 15 seconds.
Press the shutter release. Count to seven, then pop open the battery compartment. (I discovered that the camera will beep when you do this.)
Wait several seconds, then close the battery compartment.
You may need to repeat the above sequence several times to unstick the iris. If that does not accomplish it, you will likely have to send the camera in for repair.

Try to replace the battery with rechargeable ones and if it doesn't work, you may contact Samsung Customer Service 1-800-SAMSUNG and set up your camera for repair.

Did you accidentally hit the lower left "Disp" button on the back of your camera? It manually turns the screen on or off to save batteries. Turn the camera on and press it once to check.

Take the lens off and continue pressing the shutter untill it doesn't react anymore, you should then have a normal menu without the error message.Put your lens on and you're all sorted.Cheaper and less hassle than sending it to Nikon.

Hi,
If the Olympus is using the exact same batteries as the Canon, there is a high chance that the problem is with the batteries.

Cannot close the shutters

I had the same exact problem with my W5. After doing some research I found that hitting the bottom of the camera against my palm worked perfectly. This has worked for many others with the same problem. Start by hitting it lightly and increase the force until it retracts when you turn it on. I hope this helps.

Camera shuts off when you click the shutter button

The same thing happened to mine. While not a solution, my workaround has been to turn the LCD screen off when I'm shooting. It's worked so far.
