Here's a link to the manual for that motherboard:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock478/p4s800-mx%20se/e1918_p4s800-mx_se.pdf

This will show you where all the connections go. Also make sure onboard sound is enabled in the BIOS setup, and that the drivers have been installed. You can check WIndows device manager to see if any warnings show up about problem devices.

If you need to download any drivers or need more information about the board, here's a link to the Asus support page:
http://support.asus.com/faq/faq.aspx

Hope this helps. Good luck with the computer!

PC wont boot, not even to bios

Maybe the mobo is shot for u and he has his PSU shot.......Check for any burnt smells from the mobo. See if the cable from the PSU is properly connected to the mobo. Try removing all drives like graphics cards, RAMS one by one and see if it works.

What problem is it that you are having?
If you want to upgrade you're CPU here is the Asus link for supported CPU's P4S800-MX motherboard.
http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P4S800-MX
To the right of the list is the bios file that must be used to support the CPU.

If you need instruction on how to replace a CPU just let me know.

I don't think so. Have you checked to see if:

One, your cable connections are secure and properly seated?

Two, check to see if are any shorts in the cables?

Three, make sure you do not have any jumpers shunting audio output. Check first to make sure that jumper isn't right before removing the jumper...See the Manual.

[PS] Jumpers are those little magic blocks, like you see on the CMOS reset [1-2 || 2-3]. They shunt two pins.

Bios update

make sure your bios is an eprom. people download bios upgrades only to find their bios is not a flash bios. that is it doesn't have the infrared source to physically "flash" the chip.
