Fan like noise may be a fan or the color wheel---color wheel spins at high speed(lamp faces it) and when failing you will have a high pitched or fan like sound---hard failure and you will hear a grinding sound.

You will have to pull out the light engine. That will consist of 4 or more screws and disconnecting some plugs. The the whole unit slides out where you can get to the fan housing.
Unless you're mechanically inclined, you should not try it as you could damage the assembly.
I don't know the part number off hand and some of those have newer part numbers as replacement for the original. Just do a google search to come up with a part number.

Hi,
Yes, the problem is the color wheel. Those are not sold by toshiba alone. You have to buy the light engine from them (a lot of $$$)
I found color wheel for sale on eBay. Just type "toshiba color wheel” and you will see them there. They are little wider then the original buy fit perfect and seem to last much longer too.

maxie99,
Fan is available at https://www.encompassparts.com/webwiz/wwiz.asp?wwizmstr=WEB.SEE&partnumber=6475656&smodel=52HM95 for about $80.00. Replacement should be as simple as unplugging the fan cord and removing a couple screws to remove. Do the work with the unit unplugged from the wall. Reverse the procedure to install the new unit.
Thanks for using FixYa and the great rating.
