There are two controls towards the rear of the PCB, very close together. They set the upper and lower limit of the variable power. take a look on cbtricks.com for more info.

SOURCE: I have to keep my rf=gain turned all the way down

The RF limits the signal strength you radio receives. After setting the RF to limit excessive signals, then set your squelch up until the noise is gone. There are some areas which have high RF background noise so adjustments are made often while driving around. Use the ANL (automatic noise limiter) and other features also to control the noise.

I have a cobra 29 Ltd chrome what is the dynamite and the rfgain and the delta tune and the talk back used for. What do you set it on

The mic gain is your output audio volume or modulation. RF Gain is you reception sensitivity. Delta tune is a gimmick it is supposed to slide the frequency a few kHz up or down for you reception of a radio that might have drifted off channel. Talkback is a tool to give you an idea of what you sound like ie quality of mic or volume or adjusting echo if you have added such a board to your radio. As far as adjustments RF gain is preferance. Mic all the way up on stock radio. Delta tune 12 o'clock. Talkback user preference. Take care......hope this was of help

Have to use rf gain control to control volume. no control or very little with af gain control. ft101ee

RF gain is not used to control volume. It's used to adjust the sensitivity of the radio. If you have a station nearby that's very strong that you wish to listen to, turning down the RF gain will help reduce distortion and/or interference. The control for Volume is "AF Gain" (Audio Frequency Gain). You want to use it to set the volume level.

What is rf gain cotrol on a cobra cb radio

Rf gain on a cobra 29 is the same as on any other radio. When you turn the knob all the way to the right the RF increases to draw in signals that are far away nut if you turn it to the left only the nearest stations will be picked up.

Need to turn rf gain down inside uniden pc66xl c.b.

The radio should have a RF gain control on the front of it that should drop reception to almost nothing unless sitting side by side in very close quarters.

You could have the receiver detuned but that really makes no sense.

I have a cobra 142 base, and the receive is all most clear out. where should I start looking for the problem?

Check the RF gain knob. It should be all the way up. If the knob is bad, this could be the problem. You can un solder the wires from this knob, and hook them together to give you max gain, if your receive is back when you do that, the knob is bad.

You can replace the knob, (Call cobra for the part) or you can leave it soldered together, put some heat shrink on it so it doesn't short, and use it like that.

It doesn't really need RF gain.

Now on that radio, the RF gain is on a double knob with the SWR calibration. RF gain is only 2 wires, and the SWR CAL is 3. You would take the 2 wires next to each other and hook them together.

If there is still no receive, then the radio needs a tech. A part has failed in the receive section of the radio in the RFgain section. Probably a resistor lost its value.

Have cobra 29wxnwst radio. Truck sat for 3 months

Turn up the RF gain all the way and leave it.

RF gain is basically how open your receive is. There is really no reason ever to have it down unless you are trying to hear only close stations to you.

If you RF gain is up, your mic pins my be oxidized, or mic bad.
Try a different mic, and or clean the contacts in the connectors.
