If you remove the door you see it blinking through there is usually a led diagnostic code list. before removing panel count the long and the short blinks and write the amounts down as you may resett the code by removing the door.
Thanks,
Brian

Why is there a flashing red light on my american freedom 80 air conditioner/heating unit?

There is a flashing red light on the control board to let you know the board is powered up. It is also used to diagnose errors with the system by counting the number of blinks in between pauses. there should be a legend on the board or in your instructions for the unit.

HK42FZ034 status code light blinks in pattern

Located on the schematic on the inside of the furnace door should be a key for the blink sequence. 2 short blinks then 4 long ones would be a code 24 on that data plate

On my Carrier Furnace the trouble shooting light has 3 fast blinks and 3 small blinks what does that mean?

Hi, this is a code telling you that something on the furnace has failed. You will have a chart with a list of codes and the amount of blinks fast and slow that will tell you what the problem is and what you can do to solve this. The chart may be glued to the panel, or on the control module it self. The code might be a 33. It might be a roll out switch has tripped and needs to be reset, or what ever, you will need to look for what it is saying. To reset when you find the problem, unplug power or shut off breaker, and turn back on in a minute or 2.Let me know the out come.

L6 code

Hi, this is a 5 ton unit you have. Is this L6 code coming from the indoor units circuit board? If so, remove the panel where you see this if there is a red led light that is blinking. It may kill power if you remove the blower panel as most have a kill switch for safety to shut all down when removed. To have the power on to check things you will need to tape this switch down good. I am not sure on your unit where you see this L-6 code, but on the panel there should be a trouble shooting chart telling you what this code is telling you. I know on gas furnaces they will tell you the problem. If this code is at the thermostat, you will need to go through the manual for programming it and it will say. Is the system cooling good, no problems that you have found? You might do what I have asked and if its on the stat check the manual. If you don't have one, get the name, Model, Serial numbers from the stat and call a appliance parts house not a sales show room, but a place that sell parts and they can look it up on there computer and tell you what the code is for that stat. Unless the unit has stopped cooling completely, I wouldn't worry to much, but would do your best to find out. If you can, let me know where you are seeing this code and how the system is working. This would be helpful for me. Please be kind when you go to rate me as that would be very kind of you. Please keep me posted on this unit. I will be around here if you need more help.

I have an American Standard Freedom-80 Two stage furnace/AC. After replacing my old Honeywell with a new Honeywell RTH2310 thermostat (which the guy from A-1 Heating & A/C assured me was compatible...

The DS1 probably means dip switch 1. The light is used to give you different trouble codes. There should be something printed on the circuit board or on a label nearby that lets you know what each series of blinks means. I agree a good place to start would be to recheck the wiring then make sure you have the program in the thermostat right. It has several options.

Carrier Gas Furnace runs fine randomly stops blowing LEDs flash

That blinking light may be the diagnostic light. Count the blinks next time it fails. Carrier units will have two different blinks depicting the error code such as one blink followed by a pause than 3 blinks giving you an error code of 13. Then look at the wiring diagram, it will have an error code chart telling you where to start with your diagnosis. You already know that if you remove the cover it erases the error code, so look thru the small window first.
