I have an acer aspire 7540 and I cant get it to take pics. or video except on facebook and no other way what can I do? I have tryed downloading new soft ware but that does not seem to work what else can I do?
Download and reinstall the webcam drivers. Get online
and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Acer
Support" or "Crystal Eye Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support).
Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating
system when requested. Download and install the drivers. You can always download Manycam and install it. Go to
www.google.com and in the search box type: "download.cnet.com"
(without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the site. When the
site opens look down on the left and you will see a gray area that says Find
Software. Type "Manycam" (without the quotes) in the white
search area then hit the search mirror. When it brings back your results
look for the one that says ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Down load it and
install it. Make sure you remove the check box on any junky programs it
would like to install. You only want to install ManyCam, no additions
whatsoever during the install. ManyCam is totally FREE and easy to use,
and you will always know where your webcam software is.
Try using ManyCam. It comes with drivers.
You can visit ManyCam's website and learn how to use it on facebook, skype or any other application where you video chat.
Using it as a stand along just to take a picture is easy.

Some newer cams are not compatible with Yahoo, check here to make sure yours is. If not (too new) then try a 3rd party software to run it through... I've used a free fun one called 'ManyCam' , if you run your laptop cam through that it should work on yahoo messenger.

The cause of this problem is a combination of the new Windows Live Messenger 9 beta and McAfee antivirus trial that is installed on your Aspire.
Several solutions are availabe:
1. Simply to update your McAfee Antivirus. You can do this by selecting the update function in McAfee's interface. This should fix the problem instantly.
2. If step 1 does not work, you can, if you dont care much for the new Messenger look, uninstall version 9 and just install 8.5 again. This has no known problems at all.
