there is an adjuster at the lever end of the clutch cable wind this out until you have about 3mm of free play before you feel the clutch

I made the cluch as loose as I could and it still stalls... Could it be the clutch plates or basket? Thank you for your help

Ok I tried that and I cant move the bike... Would you be able to tell me how to adjust the clutch?

  • Anonymous May 16, 2012

unwind the adjuster so the lever has about 3mm of free play then starts to pull in the clutch

If adjusting the clutch all the way doesn't release the plates, then you have frozen or seized plates in the clutch basket. You will need to remove the clutch side cover and inspect/replace.

Did you say you made the clutch loose? You need to tighten the cable so that it actuates the clutch fully but not letting it slip.

usually in wire based clutches, if the clutch cable is set to be too loose, or if it is frayed, and needs replacement, the bike will jump and stall.
check that.

The bike has a sidestand interlock that prevents you from riding away with the kickstand down. That interlock is not functioning properly. Could have been bent or moved, unplugged, or perhaps the relay has failed. If physically activating the switch does not work, and connecting the wires with a jumper does not work start looking at the turn signal relay, some bikes have that circuit integrated into the relay.

Your bike is a 2000 model year. The 10th digit is the year designation.

loose or broken ground wire ,could be broke under insulation, vibration of motor makes it lose contact. probably on gear indicator switch.

My Audi a6 was going slowly up a slight hill and I thought it had stalled but when I put it in gear there was nothing at all not seem to be biting onto a gear

Sounds like it's time for a new clutch. Get it fixed as soon as possible, if you keep trying to drive it you can wear down what's left of the clutch and damage the internal plates.

I have a 1998 rmx 250 and have water in the gear box oil is it just a seal cause theres no visable cracks anywhere....i have ordered a new seal and sharft

If this is the four stroke version, the most likely cause for water in the oil would be a blown cylinder head gasket. Unfortunately the only repair in that case is a head skim and gasket replacement.
