Question about Panasonic Palmcorder PV-GS55 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
I wonder if anyone can help me. Any image is displayed on mycamera, even pressure on the > button. So all that's on my tape can notbe viewed either from my camera, or by downloading on my computer. However, registration seems to work because I see RECORD. The meterworks very well and the tape "running" when registering.
Take note that I can record live into my computer. I have a good tape in my camera that I know that I have images on it.
Thank youkindly to take a few minutes for me. Christine, Montréal, Canada

Problem is most likely surface mount capacitors on the video process board. Best solution would be replace the process board, but parts for this camera are long out of production. It would probably cost less to replace the camera.

1. Take out the tape - AND TURN THE CAMERA POWER ON
2. press the menu button (near the viewfinder)
3. Use he wheel on top next to the viewfinderto scroll through the choices
4. Choose "display setup" by pushing the wheel in
5. Choose "C. Rest" by pushing the wheel in
6. Turn camera off
7. Next time you turn camera on y ou should be able to view tapes and record.
IT DID NOT WORK THE FISRT TIME SO I PUT MY FINGER IN TO TRY TO GENTLY PUSH BUTTON WHEN I TOOK THE TAPE OFF AND THEN TRIED SOLUTION ABOVE AGAIN, AND THIS TIME, IT WORKED. BUT PLEASE DONT INSERT YOUR FINGERS IN AS I DID TRY THE SOLUTION 2 OR THREE TIME IT SHOULD BE OK, HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU,

The symptom appears to be video head clogging. I would first try to use head cleaning tape. (use new one). Run the cleaning tape for about 10 seconds but not more and see if it resolve the problem. If not, camcorder need a tracking adjustment by a technician. Good Luck. James. For further assistance, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com
