Can you tell me what you are trying to hook up to the HDMI input? Also, do you get sound or picture, or nothing at all?

I have a Sony LCD television. Model # KLVS32A10. The HDMI input has quit working. Is this possible to fix or would it be to costly.

There are two possible reasons the HDMI is not working anymore. The first is that the set needs a software up grade which would be free from Sony. If the set has a ethernet connection on the back you can do the software upgrade over the internet. The software version the set has is under the support menu of the set. If it does not have a ethernet connection you would need to contact Sony at 1800-222-SONY to see if your set has the latest software version. If not, they will send it to you. If that does not fix it, replacing the main board will. Most of the time it is called the "B" board or the "BA3" board. To be honest with you, Sony's ultimate fix is to use the component cables and not use the HDMI inputs at all. It is disturbing that the technical support has that as a fix but you will not be loosing anything picture quality wise and you will never have the HDMI issue anymore.
Most issues with HDMI is that there are several different software versions for it and there is not one standard one that anyone uses. To make things worse, it changes from one product run to another across all manufactures. So you wind up with software incompatibilities.
I hope this helps,

I bought an hp laptop and a sony hdmi cabel so i could be able to use my laptop on the lcd sony bravia tv. i connect my ps3 as well on the hdmi ports. at first everything was fine. no it doesnt work. i...

if you constantly change between one type of unit to another. say between your ps3 and another type of device then you could have worn the connector on the hdmi socket. it may need to be replaced. thats the best I can do. we have a bravia but dont change connections at all because it can cause many issues over extend use especially if youre changing devices whilst the set is on, as this can interfere and damage the internal circutry which may have shorted out the hdmi circuits.

I normally play my ps3 through HDMI. I am currently in a hotel trying to use it on a tv with only component inputs. How can I change the video setting without seeing the menus?

all you need to do is connect your ps3 to the tv using your hdmi cable and hold the on button on the ps3 for 6 seconds. You will hear the initial beep then a second beep, this will reset the settings on the system and it will change the settings to match the tv being used.

Ps3 has no video

I would first try changing the inputs if there is an HDMI cable connected the PS3 will detect it and change the output to HDMI. Make sure when you connect any HDMI cables that the power is off on ALL Units that are using HDMI. Connect the cables then power up all units. Change TV and Receiver or Amp to correct HDMI Inputs. On the PS3 go to Display Settings over to the left of the Crossbar. Select output settings and select HDMI and everything after select AUTOMATIC! Then Set your Audio (Also use Auto) and Save by pressing X.  Good Luck!

Hitachi 50V720 No sound with HDMI - no Component video inputs

Right now there seems to be many people with the same TV problems with sony and HDMI cables. Most of the solutions are resetting the TV and sony product. Try leaving your TV unplugged for a hour to let it reset itself.

I have a sony pfm-42b1 plasma tv with 2 vga inputs an 1svideo input.. i want to connect my ps3 hdmi cable to the vga input. i purchased the cable but nothing shows.. thanks for your help

you should change it from hdmi to cable. You can do it only on a hdmi tv when you do that you can use it for the pfm-42b1e because i had the same problem too. when you plug your ps3 to a hdmi tv you go to settings-display settings- video output settings than you change it to av multi. After you do that you can use it on pfm-42b1e

Sony KF50we60 hdmi-dvi sound cuts when plugging into a ht-sf2300

DVI = HDMI without the audio connectors. So basically you need to connect your audio in some different way, PS3s allow you to keep your video signal as HDMI and change the Audio signal to component, so that is one way or doing it, not sure if the blue ray players allow you to do this though.

No input signal HDMI

turn on and hold down the on/off button for thirty seconds when it resets it will load up via hdmi lead this works both ways going from sd to hd, failing that have both connections plugged in both scart and hdmi lead then change the settings to hdmi when viewing through scart connector then flick to hdmi input and hey presto its worked.........

Playstation 3 audio connection into Yamaha HTR-6040 AV Receiver

Is Yamaha HTR-640 a receiver? Try HDMI from PS3 to receiver or Sony HDTV. If HDMI from PS3 to receiver the you need and HDMI from receiver to out Sony HDTV. You could connect everything to receiver and HDMI out to HDTV. You can not have an HDMI cable AND an optical cable coming out of the PS3, only one or the other.
