Why isnt my ipod charging?

iPod's battery doesn't charge

Several things could keep your iPod's battery from charging. The major causes are listed below in logical order. Check each one to see if it's what's keeping your battery from charging.

Low-powered USB port

iPods that connect to USB ports require a high-power USB port.

Keyboards and some USB hubs will not charge iPod. Connect iPod directly to the computer or to a USB AC power adapter. Click here for more information.

Connect directly to computer

If you connect iPod to something that connects to the computer (like a USB hub or FireWire drive), connect iPod directly to the USB or

FireWire port on the computer.

FireWire port on a Windows PC

The FireWire (IEEE 1394) ports on some Windows-compatible computers may not be powered, and consequently won't charge iPod when you plug it in. Check here to see if the FireWire port on your PC can charge iPod.

Your computer goes to sleep

Your computer can only charge iPod when it's turned on and not asleep. Make sure your computer is on and not set to go to sleep when you want to charge iPod. Tip:

Some Macintosh computers can charge iPod even though they're asleep.
If your sleeping computer doesn't charge iPod, don't worry, just wake it and let iPod charge.

hope this helps

I just got a ipod 30gb,when i connect it to my laptop it says usb device not recognized but when i connect anotther mp3 it works it also charges on my ps3 somebody help me wtf

If you are using the same usb cable and did try another mp3 player then it works,it seems charging terminal of you ipod doesn't responding,it might be corroded or might some charging pins are missing, broken or not align located at the bottom.

Please Do this basic steps.

* Clean the charging slot with the use of dry toothbrush, gently brush the entire area of the connector so this will contact the both interface. never use wet toothbrush cause might got short circuit.

* Check all pins in the slot if it is complete or intact. if one or two pins are missing or broken, it takes malfunction to system and connection. You can use magnifying lens to be able to see all pins clearly.

* If the charging slot is totally broken, just advising you to bring it to the apple service center near you for the parts replacement.

Hope this simple guide will help you... Thanks for visiting Fixya.

Ipod Nano 5th Gen. 3 months old and died--won't restore either.

Hi there,

A possible problem with the battery. Battery life depends on how you frequently used the devised and how you handled the proper cycle to charged and drained the battery.

Battery charging should complete it's charging hours and you have to properly fully drained the battery at least once a week, this will make the battery life go longer.

Initially try to plug and connect the Ipod into your computer and see to it that it was turning ON, or it was giving any sign that it was responding when you connect it to the computer.

Is there any incidents happen that you got a problem on charging the unit, or any like incidents like power outage on the area or a short circuit on the device charger?

Let me know here again for further instruction and clarification.

How do i charge my sansa mp3?

  • Step 1:Plug the appropriate end of the USB link cable that came with your SanDisk MP3 player into the MP3 player itself. The port for this cable can be found on the right side of most models of SanDisk MP3 players.
  • Step 2:Plug the other end of the USB link cable into a free USB port on your computer. This will effectively connect your SanDisk MP3 player to your computer.
  • Step 3:Turn your computer on. This will cause your SanDisk MP3 player to automatically begin drawing power from the computer and charging its battery. On the screen, an indicator light will flash yellow while the player is charging.
  • Step 4:Disconnect the cable from both your MP3 player and your computer when the device has finished charging. You will be able to tell when the charge is complete when the indicator light that previously was flashing yellow appears as solid green.

    Charging the Sansa Clip player

If you leave your Sansa plugged into your charging source (wall charger, computer, car etc.), your player might still remain fully charged and just on. If you can, you may want to just leave it plugged into your charging source until you want to use it, so it stays fully charged. When its done, it will say fully should take a couple hours to charge the device....

Also, does your player have an auto power off or idle sleep setting? You can use this setting to set the amount of time you want your Sansa to automatically turn off after you don't use or listen to music on it.
