Hello br4noles,
based on your description, you may have one of several problems but the prime suspect would be a restrictive exhaust system. Check and make sure you don't have a blockage in your vent system all the way from the dryer to the exit point. When cycling, you should have a fairly robust air flow at the exit outside. If you don't, then you may have a blockage in your vent, something restricting the blower from operating at 100% or lastly a poor flame from your gas system. Air movement is the key thou so I would focus on that since you didn't state that the dryer wasn't heating up.
Regards,
Rick

Takes turning on the drying cycle several times in order for the clothes to be dry.Is there a “best” setting to use?

A clothes dryer is as simple as heat and airflow just like a hair dryer. If you have heat then you are probably lacking airflow. Check that the vent is not crushed or pinched behind the dryer and also make sure the main line is not full of lint or anything else that could be blocking airflow. If this is beyond your skill, strength, or aggravation level then you can call a dryer vent cleaning company. Timed dry cycle is the old reliable setting and clothes should be dry between 30 and 50 minutes. The "best" cycle on a dryer is one that utilizes a moisture sensor bar and thermister to determine drying time without over drying the clothes. This will be found on cycles other than timed dry if your dryer has that feature. Always pay attention to the care labels on your clothing as they will tell you how to care for your clothing such as "tumble dry low temperature".

LG Dryer takes too long to dry clothes

Sure the outside vent is not clogged up? If so it will overheat and turn it self off and do a poor job of drying the clothes.

Also check and make sure that all of the heating elements are working properly.

Heats up but takes several cycles to get clothes dryer

Check for a restriction in your exhaust vent. not just behind the machine but all the way to the outside vent, should have good warm airflow at outside vent. With no good air flow you have no way to get rid of the moisture. and all you will end up with is warm moist clothes. this can happen slowley happen over time and next thing you know it takes several cycles to dry the clothes .it cost a lot to dry them this way

Dryer not heating as it should. Gets warm, but takes several cycles to dry clothes

Could be 2 things... either your heat source is out of repair or your vent is blocked. Since you say it only gets warm I'll assume the problem is with the gas coils inside the unit. These parts are replaceable

Extremely low drum heat but setting is on HIGH.

Electric (Kenmore - 60931) dryer takes forever (several cycles) lately to dry clothes set on high heat (actual heat in tub feels low though). There are no obstructions in the venting and the 240 volt connection is fine. The timer rotates the dial (timer motor working). Help!!!
