First unplug the tv from the main power cord for sometime.then remove the batteries from the remote and check out for any buttons on the remote control pannel have got stuck up.if so try to make that stuck up button proper.it also happens if the button is damaged internall so the remote is not been able to get functioned.just open the screws of the remote control and check out internally that any dirt on the pannel or any thing keeping the button pressed remove that blockage .
and the last but not the good thing the remote circuit has internally became faulty or got damagged by droping or due to moisture collected internally.so replace the remote for better viewing.
thanks.

Sounds like something has been spilt over the remote, remove the batterys, uncsrew the case of the remote and split it in half. Take the rubber keypad and wash it in warm soapy water taking care to wash and dry it properly, then you have clean the the circuit board that the keypad sits on, again wash this with clean damp cloth (preferably one that has been in the soapy water) dry it thoroughly and put it back together.
If this method does not work, you will need to replace the remote
Hope this helps

You will need to take the remote apart and clean the rubber pad and just wipe down the inside contact board ( do not use water on the inside and make sure the rubber pad is not wet when you put it back together ) you can try the remote without the screws in to make sure that it is cleaned enough
if that don't work then the remotes circuit is bad , and it would be difficult to repair and cheaper to get another one or one that will work on that box

Why does the volume on my Magnavox TV immmediately go to 0 as soon as I turn it on, and then after I turn it up and take my hand off the volume button?

Hello,
it would appear Volume down button is either shorted or something is constantly pushing on it forcing the volume to go down. You could try to press on the down button and see if it feels like it pushes back a little bit. The most common thing is that it gets sticky from grimy, sticky fingers, try to un-stick it using some alcohol on a cotton swab. Other that the only way to fix this is to take the tv apart and figure out the button problem that way!
Good Luck!

Tv remote wont work even though new batteries are put in.cannot change channels or volume or even turn the tv off or on

Try opening up the unit and cleaning the contacts and bottom of the buttons with a q-tip and a bit of rubbing alcohol. Over time the oil from your fingers gets inside and creates a film between the contacts and the button so the circuit will not complete and your buttons stop working.

Toshiba 32a33. I'll be watching tv and the volume bar shows goes down to 0 (no sound) when it is in this mode the remote control will not work on the volume, you can get up and manually up the volume...

1st check to see if your remote volume down button is stuck. 2nd do you have wireless internet (router) or any other wireless devices phones, ceiling fans, another Toshiba remote, if so try unplugging them (or remove the batteries if it's a remote) while it's changing the volume one at a time. If a different device makes it stop try changing the channel on it. Also make sure the t.v doesn't have a mind of its own and remove the batteries out of the t.v remote, let it ride for a couple days if it happens without the remote being in play then you know your t.v is acting strange, if it stops then starts back up when you start using the remote again then you know your dealing with a remote issue. Sometimes Freq.'s merge causing remotes/wireless devices to conflict with each other.

My remote wont operate my sony TV volume

Here you go. This will work with most all universal remote controls. If you don't have the code do the following:
Automatic Programming
With automatic programming, the remote control tests all the codes available on the Code List and assigns the correct code for the selected device. Although this method can be more time-consuming, it eliminates the need to look up codes and enter them manually.

1. Turn off the device with which you want to use the remote control.

2. Press and hold the corresponding button on the remote control
(TV, VCR, SAT, DVD, CAB or AUD) until POWER INDICATOR illuminates. It should take a couple of seconds for the light to remain solid. The remote control is in programming mode.

3. Press and release power button. The POWER INDICATOR flashes once and stays on indicating the unit is in Power Scan mode.

4. Press CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down repeatedly until the device turns on.

5. When the device turns on, press OK to store the code.

Note:
• To exit without storing the code, press BACK.
• T he unit will search for the next code or the previous code if you press
CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down after the device turns on. (go slow you need to press OK when the TV turns on) if you mess up turn TV off and start over.
6. Press any other button. If the device responds, the remote control has been programmed. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 2-5.

Volume/ channel/ remote not working

I just used the following instructions from this site on my 'totally dead' Ilo remote and it worked like a charm! I did step 2 twice on each key and put the batteries back in and it worked great! Hope this helps you too. "Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck! Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4. Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once! Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2. (When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!) Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly. New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones. Step 5- Try the remote. If it works, Great! If not, it's time to call 1-800-Remotes or use this website to order a new remote.
