I'm afraid to say this is probably a problem in the prism. The prism has 3LCDs on it, one for red, green and blue. You can get blue patches if one starts to burn out. If it this, it is not an easy or cheap fix.
Could I just confirm that this is a rear projection TV?? (Its in that catogory)

Blue patch on side of screen

This is your Optics Block failing. One of the filters creating this issue. If you don't have warranty (call SONY customer service to check it out) - watch it like it is until you get new TV. It is very expensive repair.

Plasma tv has a green snowy patch and a line in the centre of screen

I hate to say it but it sounds like two different problems. Green snowy patch is what they call a diffusion problem and can usually be cleared up by adjusting the VA and VS controls on the power supply board. The other issue is either a drive board, a ribbon connector to the display panel, or a bad display panel(screen). It didn't say what brand you have but these problems are common in samsung, lg, vizio, and several other brands. Good luck and if there is anything else you need just ask and we'll try to fixya, Russmann.

Blue line down left hand side of screen

If this is a very thin (pencil line) line, The problem is the panel. I hope that this is in warranty. The panel cost more than the TV. If it is larger than that. The problem can be the main control board ( if it is a LCD TV). If it is a Plasma TV the driver board is bad.

Blue patches on my samsung lcd Hd 46 inch rear projection tv all the time seem to be getting worse. What is it and how can I fix, last time it cot me $698 to fix another part.

Uh Oh! blue screen of death. Your light engine has warped a little from overheating and is distorting the picture.

Make sure it is getting good ventilation and the fan filters are clean.

My suggestion to you is to get on the phone with hitachi and start complaining, then keep complaining until they agree to pay for it. You may have to get the problem diagnosed by a pro before they agree to pay for it though.
Hope ya fix it!
