CAN NOT CONVERGE THE RED COLOR UP AND DOWN

While watching tv the red colors are seperate from the other colors which makes the picture blurry. I tried to converge the colors, but the red x only goes left to right not up and down.

I appreciate the help. I have a toshiba Model #50A62 S/N#13310927. Presently looking at the tvat the bottom of the screen if there are scores across the bottom I have two sets . The top set is red in

color and the bottom set is blue green. On the top of the screen I have the same color bands only in the opposite direction. The only repair shop is 2 hours away and they told me it was ici's and would cost $400.00 to repair. He mentioned soldering and I was not sure if I could repair the tv if I had the correct parts. This indicates to me that one of the convergence convergence output resistor has open. there is a slight chance that the convergence ic amplfer is at fault. but the fact you can go left and right and not up and down makes me feel its the resistor. IM sorry thats techy talk. do you have any electronic traning. let me know make and model and ill try to get the component number and value for you

Sitting here watch tv and suddenly the picture went warped and discolored. Picture looks like the colors are seperated. blue green and red.

Your TV has convergence chips that need to be replaced by a tech. These keep tour red green and blue lights in sync with one another in order to give you a sharp color picture. When they fail your colors seperate.

Wavy horizonal disturbance in picture

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

52'' Projection TV SONY

this is a problem with the convergence chip. you can try to adjust the convergence in the menu settings of the t.v.
pin cushioning will correct the curves, convergence fixes color seperation.

write the number down before changing them, in case you make it worse.

Blurry and colors are seperated red green white

if you are viewing from a projection tv, chances are you have to go thru the menu of the tv to 'picture tuning'. here it gives you different things that could be fixed. one to look for is 'lamp alignment'. It should show all the colors and lines with directions to bring them into focus. This should fix the blurriness and 3-d red/green/white separations. hope this helps you!
