Question about PC Desktops

I have a Dell Vostro 200 PC and whenever I turn it on, the fan sounds loudly and a beeping noise occurs; the moniter doesn't seem to be picking up a signal either. Has anyone got any advice?

It will have three short beeps, then there is a gap of about 5 seconds and it will beep again three times, and continues to do this.

Power OFF the machine.disconnect all the wires connected externally to the machine.open the cpu/tower and check out inside if there is dust collected .then clean that dirt/dust properly.then remove all the video cards, sound cards,RAM,and all the wres connected to the board carefully.then refit it again as it was connected on the mother board.this will hardly take half an hour.then connect the power  cord of the machine to the power outlet and ON and check out.this beep will go and pc will start working.

The beeping is a error message, can you count me how many long and short beeps you get, it tells us of a hardware failure.

    Hi,

is the computer under warranty? if your computer is still covered by warranty contact your dealer or dell for repair, if its outside of warranty we can freely try a few things without loosing anything.

If you can open the pc case, remove the memory modules heres a video on that

    http://www.expertvillage.com/video/16206...

to remove the memory you need to press the white things at both ends, and take the memory out, it should come out easyly, if it doesn't check that both the white things are pressed.

remove all the memory from the computer and plug it back to the power source again, you don't need to close the cover, then turn on the computer, it should beep in a diffrent way or not at all, wait for the beeps or just 1 minute and then the computer off and unplug it again, ones unpluged install one of the memory modules you removed and try turning on again and see what happens do you get beeps or picture? if you get beeps count them again.

Defective memory can cause blue screens, no video, beeping sounds. It's possible that you have a defective memory stick.

Vostro 200 four beeps at startup then repeats; fan stays on.

Cant say for sure what the problem is, but most probably it is due to a bad RAM module. Try removing it and after removing the dust on the RAM and its slot Re-insert it. Also try cleaning up other areas with a blower too. It should workout.

Dell vostro 200 4 beeps then with f2 starts

here is the explanation of what can be possibly wrong,
1 long, 2 short - Video adapter error: Bad or improperly seated video card
Repeating beeps Memory error: Bad or improperly seated RAM
1 long, 3 short-Bad video RAM or video card not present
4 short Keyboard communication failure: Bad keyboard controller or keyboard

This is what the typical explanation is. To avoid assumption, i will need info on *********** board...thanks,

Vostro 200 won't go to startup

The 4 beeps suggests a memory issue. If you open the case and pop the memory modules out and then reinsert them it may clear the problem. One way to check if an individual memory stick is bad is to reboot as you put them in one by one.

I hope this helps.

Dell vostro 200 4 repeated beeps on start up

Disconnect all devices from the power supply EXCEPT the motherboard
Remove any extra cards including video etc.(plug monitor into the onboard)

If you hear any beeps these can indictate where the fault is.
either of these sites below will help you further with that

Beep codes Pc

More beep codes

Power up the pc and see if the fans are working.
If not then double check the power connections to the board.

If you still have no fans it is time to suspect the power supply as the probable cause.

If the fans worked then you should have gotten a display which told you there was an error and offering you a chance to go into the BIOS. ignore it and shut down the PC.

Now connect one drive only and boot again.

Repeat that until you identify the component that is giving you a problem.

Once you find the problem then remove or disconnect and carry on with the rest to see if another component might also cause a problem

If there is only one problem device then you may want to investigate that device further, Unless you don't mind replacing it
