My 57h83 Model Toshiba big screen TV

Hello, maybe you can help me! I am trying to use my Toshiba remote control that has a number on the bottom of it that says REM48TVA. I am trying to use this as my universal remote with everything in it. Well, I have all but my satellite, which is DirecTV. I called DirecTV and Toshiba and guess they don't know but I need the code for the DirecTV to put into the toshiba remote..it's not listed as a satellite choice with the paperwork at all. R16-300 is model # for the DirectTV satellite receiver.

Thank you in advance for any advice!

You can find the remote control codes for different brands of devices from
http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/codes-tv.shtml#tv

If none of the codes work then we have two other solutions:

1. Searching For Your Code

If you have tried all of the set-up codes for your brand of equipment ,or your brand is not listed, and you are still not able to get the unit to respond, try the following procedure to search for your code.
If you don't find a code that works, the remote will flash four times when you reach the end of all the codes for this device type.

  1. PRESS the button for the device you want to program, (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.), then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. ENTER 9-9-1 (two blinks on the remote)
  4. ALTERNATE slowly between the POWER key and the DEVICE (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.) button until your device turns off. (On VCR, LD, and CD players use PLAY instead of POWER)
Make sure that the remote is pointed at your device during the search, You may have to press this sequences of buttons up to 100 times to search the entire library of codes.
  5. When your device turns OFF, PRESS the SETUP button and RELEASE it to lock in the code for your device.

2. Learn the buttons from the original

Line up your original remote and the head-to-head before completing the following steps.
  1. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice.
  2. PRESS 9 - 7 - 5, the red LED will flash twice.
  3. PRESS the DEVICE key where you wish to learn the function. The next 3 steps must be completed within 10 seconds.
  4. PRESS the button that will receive the learned function, the LED will flash rapidly.
  5. PRESS the button on the original remote to be learned.

Now you can repeat steps 3 through 5 to learn other functions onto other keys or press and hold SETUP until the Cinema's red light flashes twice to lock in your new feature. (If the red light does not blink twice, stop and repeat steps through 6).
To test the new feature, press and release the device key in which the new feature was learned followed by the key on which the feature was learned

More help for programming your remote can be found here:

Hope that helps!

Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the site linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device, in its search box. It will help you to find the document easily.

Need Remote Controler Codes for Toshiba Remote for Toshiba Model TP61H60 a 1998 Big Scrren

Your Toshiba remote should have the necessary codes to control your Toshiba TV unless one is much older than the other.

If your RCA remote is programmable, you can use its "code search" feature to find an applicable code or codes. If a complete search of all codes stored in your RCA remote fails to find a code, you may have to try another programmable remote or simply wait until the replacement Toshiba remote arrives.

Toshiba 57H83 and no longer get any sound. Any

Most often No Sound with Toshiba 57H83 is:

1. TV has a Sound on-off switch on the input panel at the rear of the TV. Very hard to see, black on black. Used to turn off speakers if you use a separate or external sound system for speakers. Usually gets moved while connecting hd cables or dusting and vacuuming in cramped space at the rear of the TV.

2. Someone accidentally changed Sound settings with remote to CC (closed caption) or SAP. Turn off in sound menu and save preference.

3. Sound input plugs from external cable or sat box unhooked or wrong input.

Toshiba 57H83 no sound fault is not common. If you still have no sound, get local service.

Or troubleshoot yourself to determine if Tuner, IF, processing, sound demod, switching or sound output circuit is smoked. Then make an installation plan.

Screen turn green tv is 57 rear projection

Good Day,
It appears that you may have a green drive issue. Try adjusting the Sreen Control it is located in the front of TV.
1) Remove Speaker Grill (it just pulls off) start at one end, 2) Remove cover (5-6 screws), 3) Adjust control. The control is located on lower right side towards bottom. A small black device with 2 rolls of controls, adjust the center control on bottom row counter clock wise, until you get a black and white picture.(adjust with color control to min).
If this does not work you light bulb (CRT) is bad about a $750.00 repair.

Good Luck, Big Irish.
