Question about Dell E171FP 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor
We recently turned on our computer and there is a white horizontal bar on the bottom of the monitor display. There seems to be no way to get rid of this white bar with colored vertical lines thru it. Can this be fixed? Thank you.

check for power management settings in the LCD menu, or does it switch off while u r in the menu.. what does the power LED indicate after switching off, also sometimes display cards do act funny.. check it out an d let me know

Dell had a problem with horizontal lines in some of their monitors a little while back. I would try contacting Dell Tech Support to see if your monitor is one of the one effected. I think they were replacing the monitors that had the problem, but I'm not completely sure.

Have you unplugged the power cord to the LCD? Let it sit for a minute, then try it. ALWAYS buy a UPS and plug any computer devices into it. Doesn't have to be big, a $50 unit will protect it from dangerous voltage surges.

This occurs when you have lines of pixels go out or your video card has gone bad on your computer. You should hook it up to another computer to confirm which is causing the issue and repair/replace the problem device.
